On Okinawa, back in the day, it was considered bad luck to have the faces looking inward.
So, just tell your wife your wife you have yours facing outward for good luck, and it worked - you met HER!

In my case I would call that bad luck!:anonymous::spending: a very expensive lesson.

Just local superstition (by the time I got there).
Of course, there may have been a great story to go along with it; possibly dating back to the very first paper bills with faces and wallets. ???

But then... it also might just be that they thought it rude to have their Emperor looking at ones' butt. ?

I always needed to do work for any money . I had no concept what an allowance was.

When you live on a farm always some work needs done. I can not recall ever having called it doing chores.

Given the choice I always lived outside . Times were so very different I knew all the neighbors within several miles.

    Hopefully a funny story…
Going through Navy Aviation Officer Candidate School (AOCS) and reference to the movie from the early 80’s “An Officer and a Gemtleman” early on candidates were not allowed desert…but you could grab a slice of white bread and some butter and a jar of sugar on the dining table…butter up the white bread, add sugar and ya had desert and a future with diabetes.

When mom made homemade pie crust she take the left over pieces and add cinnamon and sugar and bake them.
If you weren't there when they came out of the oven you missed out. There was no,,, save some for your brother.
The name we had for those pieces was schnibles.

I can remember an ad during football season called "The quarterback special". Burger, Fries and a small Coke and get a quarter back from $1. Krystal burgers were 10 cents each.

I remember when a carton of eggs had a perforated line around the middle. You could break the carton in the middle, and buy just six eggs.

I laughed to myself when I was being screened to enter a ballgame some time ago. Security was like, "WTF is this?" And I had to show them. They laughed, too. They'd never seen one.

I actually remember this Dilbert... I don't know how far down the rabbit hole Scott Adams was going with this one, because to give the cashier $7.14 for $1.89, the purchaser would get the same $5 bill back. Or maybe that's part of the joke. I wonder if I'd take the Lincoln and return five Washingtons back...
