 I had the same issues. Never was management but was a lead. Best of both worlds.

I bailed May 1st, but was done working in March since I had 2 months vacation in the bank.
40 years at my company. For me, it's in the rear view mirror now. Most of the guys I worked with are either retired or dead.
I enjoyed my job for the most part. It enabled me to have everything I could need, but I rarely think about it anymore.
    Didn't take long.

I quit the company I worked for at about age 50. Went to work for them as a contractor at about twice the salary. Got a few raises before retiring completely. Was able to retire at age 59.

I was forced to quit because I twice refused a management position. Once was enough, tho I somehow slipped by.

    Evening all:

:goingcrazy: Just got done marking all the hunting dates down on the calendar, it's getting confusing with the intermingled big game seasons, different opening and closing dates for different weapons and species, extended hunting seasons in specified areas, seniors can use a rifle the last 3 days of ML, and added Sunday hunting depending on area.
Last year we started keeping the rule book with us in the truck, shouldn't have to do that! :(

That's a serious air quality issue. No joke for people with compromised breathing problems. It was bad down here a couple weeks ago, nothing like that though. Thanks for posting.

Out here in the west we know smoke. I know what you all are going through and then some. Every summer here in California we get numerous wild fires, some 50,000 to over 100,000 acres. Even though most are many miles from my community the smoke is incredibly bad. There are days where we don’t see the sun because the sky’s are so smoky. There are days when the smoke is thick as fog and people drive with their lights on during day time. Everything gets covered with fine ash. There are days when it’s hard to breathe and the ER’s are filled with people with respiratory problems.
A friend of mine, a retired police detective lost his home in Santa Rosa to a wild fire a couple years ago. It swept through his neighborhood and he and his neighbors had only 15 minutes to get out and get to safety. The traffic getting out was so clogged he and his wife thought they were going to die.
Around where I live they bring in literally hundreds of goats every early summer to eat the dry vegetation which is fuel for the fires. Those goats do a damn good job.
We haven’t had any serious wild fires so far this year but it’s only a matter of time and they’ll start. We had such a wet and snowy winter that wildfire season is a little delayed.
There’s still snow in the mountains and a couple ski resorts are skiing through July 4th. Even so the fires will come. This could be a really bad year because all the vegetation that grew due to the wet winter will dry out and turn brown in the summer heat and will be fuel for the fires. Yep we know what some of you are experiencing.

Sounds like they need to send out more goats to eat more of the vegetation in other areas

I hear you. My nephew moved back to Ohio after living many years in Missoula. He sent me some photos of the smoke haze from out there and it was really bad. The difference being that it had become an annual event. Take care.

There ain’t enough goats in the west to eat it all. But bless those goats, they keep my area well trimmed. They are fun to watch, they are accompanied by goat herders and herding dogs. Fun to watch the dogs keeping them from wandering off.

I think it's in GA where they fence off areas of Kudzu vines for the goats to eat. When that area is cleared, they move them to another area. They go back to the same areas a few times and the vines don't grow anymore.

Even with the smoke haze, I love the scenic beauty of the Appalachians. Enjoy your time upstate.

Calling for rain this afternoon so I hope it takes care of some of the smoke in the air :D:thumbsup:. Sitting in the laundromat doing some of the wife's clothes. The soft sided cooler dropped and a bottle of beer broke:facepalm:and of course it leaked on the wife's bag and clothes. :argue: what a way to start the weekend .

Hope it gets better. Have a good one folks.:hattip:
