I currently live in Yelm but have visited east Washington, all around the Columbia river in Oregon, and as far north in Vancouver Canada… but none “overlanding”.

A great place to poke around is by packwood to mt rainier. Tons of great views and roads to explore. Around yelm you have a lot of Weyerhaeuser property and unfortunately most of that is closed

Im gonna google that. I’m not good with what is and what isn’t allowed since I’m not from here. I’ve been to Mt Rainier but I stayed on the main roads.

I’m not going to elaborate on your personal info but I can see where a 6 and a 5 can be mistaken in that grainy photo. Not saying it’s right, but I doubt there’s someone else out there with the same exact plates. Regardless that’s certainly an older gen taco and you can win in court with your vin and regi

WABDR (Washington Backcountry discovery route) is a great option. Lots of camping opportunities. Mainly forest service roads with few and far between more technical spots. Super popular. Especially this time of year as it only recently cleared completely for travel.

It's only going to get "better" too
    https://www.seattletimes.com/subscr...-speed-enforcement-cameras-on-state-highways/

Just wait until they put RFID chips into plates and speed readers all along major roads, track your speed and miles driven, charge you directly out if your bank accounts... the tech exists

    Howdy all,

    Josh in Arlington...and Maple Falls.

Traded in my 15 F150 Super crew 4x4 for a 22 TRD OR DBLB in magnetic gray. It's our 2nd Taco, first was 97 Extra Can 4x4. Loved it, had awesome CarryBoy canopy that I got for a song and a dance.

I don't do trails or anything like that but neighbor is a Jeeper and has a trail Jeep and stock Rubicon 4dr. They do logging roads with Rubicon...that's my style.

Installed N-Fab steps for height challenged wife and added a few LEDS here and there.
Looking for canopy, a few around for sale...there is a raised height ARE close by but it's red.

Looking forward to meeting some of you!

    Josh

I'm seeing a possible Q or an 0 or O o_O, but I agree, the description of the offending vehicle pictured does not fit the description of the accused vehicle in the citation, and in these types of situations, one must refer to the guilty/not guilty flow chart which reads: "if it does not fit, you most acquit", one more time for the people in the back, "IF IT DOES NOT FIT, YOU MUST ACQUIT" - JOHNNIE LEE COCHRAN JR - case REF: 1995 - People of the State of California v. Orenthal James Simpson.

My brother n law got a ticket a few years back where the vehicle had the same exact plate, but 2 major differences were that the vehicle pictured was not a Chevy Silverado, and it was not a Washington State license plate on the vehicle. That's when I learned that the mf'n cameras this bassackward state, and local municipalities, spent umpteen million dollars on can't determine the difference between Washington plates or another states plates and only read the plate number and then cross reference it against the DOL database to determine who the offender is and where to send the citation. :bananadead:

If I was OP, which I'm not, I'd respond to the citation and request a contested hearing and that the ticket be dismissed upon the facts stated above. You'll either receive a response saying the ticket was dropped, or they'll ask you to appear via remote hearing using zoom. Maybe it's just me, but it's clear that that is not your truck and that they clearly do not have their shit in order and are just hoping that you would do what you suggested, which is just pay it.

To wrap up my rant, I'll end it with another quote which really doesn't have anything to do with this, similar to the bs citation the cities prosecutor rubber stamped to the court for enforcement. “This is not ‘Nam, this is bowling, there are rules.” “Those rich f*cks! This whole f*cking thing, I did not watch my buddies die face down in the muck so that this f*cking strumpet.” Walter Sobchak

    /endrant

Disclaimer - I am not an accredited lawyer nor am I offering representation in this matter, I only play one on the internet.

Oh yeah, I'm pretty sure red light tickets don't count as points against your driving record and *WILL NOT* cause your insurance to go up, so you ultimately would benefit all around by just paying the ticket and not wasting your time. That's my nickels worth of free advice.

“Also, Dude, let’s not forget—let’s not forget that keeping wildlife—um—an amphibious rodent, for, um, you know, domestic—within the city—that ain’t legal either.” - also Walter Sobchak

The reason the ticket does not count on your license or insurance is that can't prove it was you driving just that it was your vehicle. However I'm about 75% sure that if you contest a camera ticket and lose it will go on both your license and insurance.

Hmm. I got 2 seatbelt tickets a while back and they were “non moving” violations and didn’t alter my record.

I will be doing a day trip within the next couple weeks up to Gallagher Head Lake with a couple Jeep guys (teachers) from my daughters middle school. Will probably be a Monday or Wednesday and be leaving Bothell around 8am. Will post up the specifics when we get a date and time nailed down. Plans are to banzai over and eat lunch at the top before coming back.

Crazy question. Has anyone tried to install these running boards on a 1st Gen Tacoma? They seems to fit but the instructions want me to drill through the pinch weld and use self tapping screws into the undercarriage. The brackets don’t seem to line up too well.
