I swear these Raptors, TRD Pros, etc....are all YouTube cars.

All these mark ups on the top trim limited run trucks are just YouTube cars. They pay them and then post a video on them and make up the above MSRP price on views and clicks.

Dealers know this and mark them up waiting for the next rich buyer or YouTuber to buy them at these ridiculous prices.

That would be awesome news if the US got a diesel version of Toyota's midsize pick up, to coincide with retail diesel prices dropping to prepandemic levels.

3 mpg gain for an extra $10K seems reasonable…

You would save around $300 per year if you drive 20K miles a year. It will pay for itself in only 33 years and 660K miles.

I’m averaging 26 in the WV hills right now with my 3.0L and 500# of tq. Toyota just doesn’t wanna play in America :(

Maybe we can sandwich in an LZ0 into the new Tacoma. Lord knows it’s big enough.

Or just save some pain and just buy the Chevy. Unfortunate they only offer it in the higher trim levels. That was the one nice thing about Ram, they offered the ecodiesel in the work truck. Now if only Rams weren’t steaming piles of…

    Get the 6.6 V8 diesel 10spd

It's not cheap but it will most likely cost less than a TrailHunter, and it has an engine brake. GM found away to charge an extrea $530 by making the tow mirrors optional on the HD, pretty sure they use to be standard. I can't recall seeing an HD with the standard 1/2 ton mirrors before 24.

Those are nice! Was referring to the half-ton, seems like a good sweet spot. Don’t particularly care for higher trims, bunch of stuff I don’t want, use or need. Heck, my base SR is considered low spec, hardly use the all “standard” options it does have. Barely even listen to music anymore…

Luxury interiors in a truck is oxymoronic to me. I go look at them, yeah they are nice…then think what the hell am I going to do with that!? Most likely fuck it up! Lol!

I am hoping the mere presence of these trims makes it easier to turn the other trims into them after the fact, for way cheaper.

I lightly consider the Silverado 1500 diesel, I think you could get it in a custom trim, might have been an LT. I already talked myself out of the diesel in an HD and an HD altogether. Chevy with their IFS HD might have been a reasonable compromise. I'm not much for upper trims, yeah the interiors are nice King Ranch and Cap Stone for example, but too fancy for me. The one thing I do like on upper trims is the availability of LED headlights. The only two things I would add if available to that 2500 HD is LED headlights and color keyed bumpers. I dont mind chrome bumpers on trucks like the LT trim, or WT trim with the optional chrome bumper. Or a Ford XL trim with the chrome package. The 22 SD XL RC I was looking at had the chrome bumpers, I would have added the King Ranch grille since it has stone gray bars. Ford should have offered stone gray over black as a two tone option.
