2020 SR5... tires wear uneven and fast. 2 sets in 2 years. Goodyear Wrangler w Kevlar and went to Yokohama... same problem. Wears out in the center 2 threads but not on the outer 2 treads. I don't do anything with the tire pressure unless I get the notification on my dash. So the dealership are the ones that do it. Along with regular rotations with every oil change. ANYONE else having this issue?!?!?!?!?!

Just to make sure I understand you do not check your tire pressure at all unless it gets low enough that the tpms light comes on. Check and adjust your tire pressure at least once a month, hell go to the dealer and ask them to check your tire pressure monthly if you are not willing to do it yourself.

Edit, I am really hoping this is fake bs friday thread.

If you’re wearing out tires that fast and consistently in the middle of the tread then you are keeping them way, way overinflated.

Lol. Have you asked the dealer to check the alignment?

You're gonna need to start checking your own pressure. Read the manual and get an inflator.

Rather unlikely that a bad alignment would wear the tires how op has described.

Not wrong. But when someone phrases their post as done above, we cannot take their issue at face value.

Who burns through multiple sets of tires without manually checking the tire pressure? There’s more to this story.

Tire pressure .. driving habits ..hard braking .. road conditions.. many factors can wear tires . I would start with the basics tire pressure . My Goodyear Kevlar tires wore out at 37k miles had one tire that wore more than the others . I had rotated the tires and checked air pressure .

Definitely start w tire pressures, as mentioned, overinflated tires will almost certainly wear center. Shops are notorious for not taking the time to check the MFG’s recommendations on the door jamb sticker, and just overfilling them to get them out the door without tire lights on.

Also, tire wear is often measured and life measured by miles, not months. What was the actual measurement and miles of said tires? What size too?

Go to your local NAPA store and ask for a US made Milton brand tire gauge.

When the tires are cold (before driving, not parked in the sun) check/adjust the tire pressure to the number on the decal inside the drivers door. You should check the pressure at least once a month.

If you don't feel comfortable trying this ask most any male you know over age 50 and they will probably be glad to give you a lesson.

    TPMS is benchmarked too high.

Adjust the tire pressure to a recommended value then perform the TPMS reset procedure in the manual to re-benchmark the system to that pressure.

Keep all 4 wheels on the ground when you go around corners.
How do you not check your tire pressure every so often?
I check mine on the dash religiously after every drive looking for inconsistencies in pressure like a slow leak or something, especially in this AZ heat. A blowout on the freeway in 110+ heat is not where i want to be changing my tire.

If OP isn't checking anything then it sounds like somebody at the dealer is setting it too high, and then likely base-lined the system too high as well

My 2020 sr5 would nearly bounce me off the highway when I first took it home from the dealer. I checked the tire pressure the next day and it was nearly 40 psi. They needed to be dropped to around 32 psi, so the truck rode more normal.

The dealership loves to overinflate. Your recommended pressure for your truck is on a sticker on the B-pillar. Mine, for example, says 30 PSI when cold. The dealership was inflating them to well over that and had my TPMS showing 40 PSI at one point.

Typical newbie mistake - they go by the max inflation reading on the sidewall of the tire instead of the sticker on the door jamb

i don't know why all the dealerships overinflate the crap out of all the tires. Even without inflating my tires in over a year, they were still overinflated from my last dealership visit.

They have been incentivized to cut corners, and will do so down to the second nearly every time. It's not the techs, it's not the service writers,,,, it seems to me it's the market and management trying to stay competitive and compensating in this nature.

I just got back from a long road trip with my buddy that is a dealer tech for one of the big brands. His buddy in the bay next to him, is an older gentlemen that is probably 1-2 years from retirement. He is extremely knowledgeable, knows how to actually diagnose, etc etc. This older gentlemen is looked down on most days, as he is "too slow", "takes up too much shop space", "doesn't have the patience to train others". Of course when they get a huge and complex job, a problem child vehicle, a used vehicle brand others don't know in and out,,,, the old man gets it. So they MF him most days, yet use him as the safety valve. Point is; this guy would open your door jamb and verify tire size, and properly fill tires to spec.
Their model today is to hurry up and get shit out the door.

Dealers love overinflating tires. I think it’s a 50/50 split of carelessness and not wanting to get callbacks from customers about their tire light being on. Bet they are 10+PSI over. Double check your pressure and go by the door sticker. Double check ANY work done by dealers on your vehicle if possible lol.
