Hope this isn’t a dumb question. I have a maintenance package from the dealer so I get free oil changes but the dealer says they also put additives that charge an extra $80. Is that something that truly helps the car or is the standard oil change enough? Any insight is greatly appreciated thank you for your time.

So the additives cost more than the “free”
    Oil change ?!
Just do the oil change and make sure they actually do it

Engine oils never need any additives, everything the engine needs is included.

Their only use is to move money from your pocket to the dealers.

The dealer already showed their true interest is profit, not taking care of you - find another dealer if you can.

Scam, and take your truck to a different dealer for the included maintenance since you can’t trust them anymore.

The additives were for engine to prevent carbon buildup and for the pistons to keep them cleans they said I ended up opting out.

So they add 4 oz out of a $10, 12 oz can of Seafoam, then. $80.

That is really upsetting to hear. You purchase a maintenance package, and yet they feel compelled to sell you additional "additives" that are not captured in this maintenance package hmmmm.

    How many miles?

This is JUST like the $25 off oil change/$50 oil change coupons from the local stealer... the coupon is for a 5 quart oil change. Of course a Tacoma takes 5 1/2 quarts so they charge you for one extra quart plus disposal of 6 quarts of oil it's like five dollars a quart for disposal and they charge you $20 a quart for the 1 quart to fill that 1/2 quart even though all the oil comes from a giant drum of Toyota oil...so that's $50 extra with a $25 off coupon so the $50 oil change cost you $80 with tax with a $25 off coupon…

    That's why I got a Fumoto valve

So the carbon (if any) is dislodged and cokes up your catalytic converters. No thanks.

Yeah I’m out of this dealer they kept pushing it after I said no so this is last time. Either finding a new one or starting to do the service myself.
