I am about to install. Some say the lip goes towards the front of the truck on driver and passenger side. Some put the lip going towards the rear I'm confused. Also double cab. One guy put the fronts on facing forward and the rear seat protectors going towards the bed.

If the lip you are referring to is the pronounced downward part on one side, it goes to the front and towards the inside of the cabin. It snaps directly over a white plastic wiring channel. This is on a 2018.

No I mean the vinyl door sill protectors not the scuff protector over the weatherstrip. On the new vinyl protectors there is a small cut out lip on one side

Can you post a pic or two to see the detail of the protectors?

My truck has "TACOMA" as you face inside and appear to be glued on. Things have obviously changed.

It can be both ways on the new one though. Both fronts are legible from the outside if turned around

I'm no following what your posts are saying. If it can go both ways why are you asking it seems which way it goes ? What do mean by "both fronts" ? Just trying to get clarity so someone can help.

Lay them down and figure it out. It’s not exactly difficult.

It’s still not difficult. Lay them down, decide which way fits best, stick them on.
