I forget the details but this is like pre production status. But previous announcements Toyota said they'd put SS packs in hybrids and PHEV's first.

The truck is still going to need to be able to do normal Tacoma things with what ever type of batteries and electric drive train that will be implemented.

The only trucks I see being used commercially are a RS1 and Lightnings. Being used by the power company and those look like inspector vehicles which might work well for that. I've also seen some new XLT and STX gas F-150s being used. I bet those gas trucks are getting more miles put on them than the battery trucks.

Electrifying an existing midsize platform is the a difficult task. Gas midsize trucks already get the same milage or worse as a fullsize. Combine that with the space needed to accommodate the batteries coupled with extra weight a midsizes payload will be diminished. You won't be able to carry people, haul a load or pull a trailer. The range will be terrible, less than 100 miles on a charge. The single cab disesel 2500 HD I posted earlier would be more practical for commuting than a midsize platform built using today's battery technology.

Again I will say you have no clue on the technology toyota is using . They are calling for 900km of range with their new battery technology. It isn't lithium like Ford which horrible on range
Regardless of what you think I want a hydrogen opinion anyway. I'm not a full electric fan

Those are still the facts surrounded full electric trucks and midsize pickups available today. That's the only information that can be used to speculate how a nonexistent battery electric Tacoma would perform.

I like those rcsb trucks not sure why but they always look cool to me, if they put the 3.0 duramax in it I might just pull the trigger

You can't be this stupid? We already have full production body on frame EV trucks. Ford Lightning and the Rivian R1T.

You could, point was…don’t need passenger seats, that space better serves me as storage. If I bought a crew, would do this.

Was camping with a buddy of mine and his teenage son, wanted to make a run into town for dinner. “Hey can we take your truck(?) it rides better than the F350.” Opens the door… “ohhh” (yeah I don’t haul people)

Why I bought an access cab. Would have been nice if Toyota made a flat floor, but some DeWalt storage boxes kinda work.

It's going to be interesting to see if Toyota can execute on solid state batteries by 2027. We don't even have solid state batteries in small consumer devices yet. I'm highly doubtful, Toyota completely failed at releasing their first EV (bz4x).

Because application of this is stupid in any use case. Sodium ion batteries require a much bigger footprint for the equivalent capacity of a lithium ion. The life expectancy of a sodium ion battery is also worse than lithium ion. Solid state is the future of batteries.

They do, both Ford and Rivian also have a patents for inbed extended range batteries, would make those stumpy useless beds even more useless…

EV manufacturers tend to promise the moon…”in the future, everything will be better, we promise!” The future gets here, and we get more promises. How’s that Tesla Cyber Truck coming along?

Starting to see used Rivians and Lightnings pop up on the used lots here. Didn’t those just come out!? Not even that old and people are dumping them.

Bat still doesn't know current EV tech and spouts out nonsense. That was the point.

Sounds like he was just asking questions. Is kinda hard to keep up with it all. I try to, but don’t have too much interest in it. Seems mostly about future promises and a mad scramble trying to make shit work to appease the coming government regulations.

Is kinda funny seeing Rivians and Lightnins pop up on used car lots, people must of bought them for the novelty then quickly realize this shit doesn’t work all that well to be practical.

Current EV tech is stagnant, and won't support a midsize truck platform. EV tech is moving so slowly Tesla has cut pricing up to $15k, on top of the tax rebate to keep inventory moving because Tesla inventory has outpaced demand.

Nope, he isn't asking questions. Alot of people not even considering an EV seem overly concerned about something that doesn't concern them. You have no clue why those used EV's are on the lots. If people buy them and realize they don't like them that's the way it is. Happens with petrol vehicles also.
