    it seems ridiculous you would have to add foam around the cowling for it not to leak

    You would think so right? but the flaw is in the design of the cowl. We live in Florida and between the Sideways downpours and carwashes, it is indeed the issue.

    That would be my guess too. My company issued Jeep had this issue with scalding hot water hitting my work boots. Turns out it was the condenser drain

    I joined TW today only to post this.
    2016 SR5 4x4 access cab here. No clogged drain, no leaking cowl.

    I get water drops on passenger floor only when AC is on. Not when running just the fan nor the defrost.

    I have personally torn then entire AC black box apart and there is no leaky hole anywhere.

    The waters drops are from heavy condensation collecting on the exterior of the black AC box under the passenger side dash.
    I live where it is 80%+ humidity 12 months a year. There is no fix for it.

    People need to stop suggesting it's a clogged drain etc all the time. Because these hvac/ac units clearly have a design flaw relating to accumulated condensation.

    My 2022 Tacoma is doing the same thing leaking on the floor board on r/s on long trips, my wife noticed it on a recent trip. Dealer said no clogs and cabin filter was normal, i am guessing that the evap housing is sweating and like the other post I read they can't or won't do anything about it. i also notice a ringing noise that goes on for a few seconds when i first take off with a/c on I read on here that was a a/c evaporator issue has anybody experienced this?

    Check your air cabin filter if you've used your windshield fluid recently. I took mine through the carwash and had pink soap on the filter. dealer said it's usually blue from the windshield fluid.

    since i put my weather strips around the vents, no problems.

    I went to the dealership today on my 2017 TRD Off Road Access Cab. They tested the door seals on passenger side, third brake light, no sun roof, and cleaned out A/C drain.

    It looks like the A/C drain was clogged. I now have a puddle coming out of my extended A/C drain.

    Fingers crossed

    i've cleared the drain tube, replaced cabin filter, sprayed that a/c cleaner into the evaporator. nothing is clogged and i still get drips on my floorboard when i use the a/c without recirculate on or if i have a window cracked. guess it's normal. could it be low on refrigerant? it's

    Am I the only one to have filed a lawsuit w/ Toyota for this clearly design flaw w/ the HVAC BOX EXCESSIVELY SWEATING AND DRIPPING WATER ON PASSENGERS FEET? No other vehicles that I have owned or know of drips water inside vehicles when running ac, mostly on continuous driving in humid conditions! Toyota Corp is completely aware of this issue, and yet refuse to remedy this problem and still keeps selling a defective product! Take the next step people or they won't change a thing!

    someone hit my truck last week and i'm in a rental dodge ram. been running the a/c on full blast with the windows down, no recirculate, and there's not one drip whatsoever. So i don't think it's normal for the evaporator box to sweat like they do in our trucks.

    I know it's not normal, no other vehicles drips water inside like the Tocomas, I was hoping for a recall to fix, but everybody is just excepting it so Toyotas not gonna spend a dime on something that's not a safty issue, they don't care about someone's feet getting wet! It seems to me that carpet being constantly wet would be a mold issue and everyone has heard of lawsuitsover mold! Their also is a whole cluster of wires the water drips onto, so I guess since it is operating as designed, as Toyota claims, I'm assuming Toyota would have at least took the extra precautions to put marine grade wire, like a boat so something doesn't shirt out and possibly catch fire and kill you?

    I think it’s been a thing long enough for them to have seen that were it a possibility. There has to be a propensity to cause harm rather than a possibility that has yet to occur. Annoying just doesn’t rise to that level especially since wet shoes probably do much the same thing. Get floor mats.

    Great answer, just get floormats! It drips down in behind the floor mats, floor mats don't go all the way up to the HVAC BOX anyway! Anyway, the worst scenario for a corporation is to knowingly know something is wrong and not take the necessary steps to prevent something from happening, just ask the tobacco company's! But if you are ok paying 50,000$ for a brand new vehicle and water is dripping on a loved ones feet after bringing them home from chemotherapy treatments and they are sick as hell, then you are more of a man then me!

    You sound overwhelmed by problems more significant than this one. I wish you the best.

    God grant me the serenity
    to accept the things I cannot change;
    courage to change the things I can;
    and wisdom to know the difference.
    Living one day at a time;
    Enjoying one moment at a time;
    Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
    Taking, as He did, this sinful world
    as it is, not as I would have it;
    Trusting that He will make all things right
    if I surrender to His Will;
    That I may be reasonably happy in this life
    and supremely happy with Him
    Forever in the next.
    Amen.

    Brand new vehicle dripping water on inside of vehicle, and being told, operating as designed, damn right filed lawsuit, well the lemon lawyers filed it, they wouldn't take a case and pursue it if there wasn't any merit to it! And all the praying and accepting a greedy corporation excuse for not fixing a problem just doesn't work in this day an age as the one gentleman pointed out! If you bought a used vehicle out of warranty then their not much you can do about, but a brand new one under warranty, you have a case if you meet your states lemon law requirements .

    Wished I could! Lol. But their won't be a recall because they don't consider it to be a safty issue like frame's rusting out and the 3rd brake light recall that was leaking water into the cab, they wasn't worried about the water coming into the cab, they was worried about water shorting out the 3rd brake light and possibly causing a death! Alot of people have complained about this issue for years but just accept it, so if Toyota has to buy back a few vehicles a year for a lemon lawsuit, then it's cheaper then spending probably billions for a recall! Toyota is one of the biggest and richest auto manufacturers and they calculate every move they make! It's going to be be David against Goliath, but I willing to stand up to them and take one for the team! Lol. Anyway, it's a jury trial, and everyone of the jurors probably drive a vehicle and when presented the evidence, pics of water all over the mat & Carpet, numerous trips to the dealer , they might just relate and think to themselves, something is wrong, my vehicle don't drip water on people feet, unless they drove a Tocoma to court on a humid day! Lol
