Got a mouse problem..

We live woody / rural area and park outside, so mice are a problem, they nest in the blower/hvac system. it's gross.

by the way, I'm new to the Taco scene. just found me a used, but mint 2010 TRD sport. the old Jeep now has a worthy replacement.

back to the issue, I pulled a nest out of my wife's Corolla just last week. they were coming in through the hvac air intake under the windshield and made a nest on top of the cabin air filter. that's nasty. from there they were able to get into the cabin and terrorize my wife on her way to work.

I evicted the little bastards from the Corolla, vacuumed out the whole system and blocked their entry point under the windshield with some "Cobra" ridgevent material (basically like a heavy-duty brillo pad, lets air through but mice dont like to chew ) so far no reentry... so far.

Taking delivery on the Tacoma tomorrow and first order of business will be to mouse proof it... if necessary.

The question to all you Tacoma people is this - did Toyota wisen' up and add any sort of mesh to prevent critters from entering the hvac system?

also, are there any other entry points that I need to block?

any other experiences?

anyway. that's the idea.

killing the whole family is out of the question, they'll just keep coming. kind of like immigrants. you can build a fence and deport them, but there's always more. (ps, I AM an immigrant, but I came legally and applying for citizenship. hopefully I get sworn in before Trump becomes president, I dont think I could keep a straight face for that).

Good job on using the search to find the answer. You beat others to having to do the search and point you directly to that thread.

but I did it also on the sides where the fenders intersect, thats where the bastards come in. I used expanding foam to seal some areas and put in drain tubes. You just have to make sure you dont get any leafs or dirt in there to plug up the mesh or water may flow into your vehicle.

I also live in a wooded area, but due to the coyotes, foxes, hawks, snakes, and owls don’t seem to have a problem with mice.
