So just got back from a long ride with the wife. I was on the Honda monkey that I just put the stock exhaust back on. Well it’s coming back off to put the TB back on. I couldn’t even hit the rev limiter in 3rd gear on flat ground. That’s even with one tooth down on the front sprocket. I don’t care if it’s loud but loosing that much power with such a low hp bike is worse.
    That is all.

How is that even possible? I can hit rev limiter in 3rd on a stock Grom with one tooth down in the front.

I wonder if the ECU hadn't re-adapted yet and it was just uber rich? Did you reset the ECU after you put the stock back on?

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
Same bike I took my test on, I think in '77. Had to do it at the local DMV office, written test and simple ride around some cones in the paring lot. Tester was surprised that I was using the front and rear brake to assist in the slow speed maneuvers. At that time in WI, the license was tiered, up to 500cc, 500-750, over 750. I took the test on the 850 because a friend had a KZ1000 that I occasionally rode and needed the upper tier.

No I didn’t . I just did it though after taking it for a run with the aftermarket exhaust. That was most likely the problem. Also after the ecu flash the rev limit is close to 11k so it still didn’t quite get there but was closer than the stock exhaust. I am going to stop messing with it because before you know it I will be ordering a 149cc BBK for it.

Changed my front tire today and went from a Motoz Tractionator GPS to a Dunlop Trailmax Mission. I have a trailmax mission on the rear right now and have a spare waiting to go on when it runs out and figured I'd try the matching set.

The Tractionator had a hell of a good life though. Went back through my records and put it on at 32,something miles and just took it off at low 47,092 miles for a total lifetime of 14,296 miles with a surprising amount of tread left. I had probably 2 or 3 mm until I hit the treadwear indicator. I was starting to get hairline cracks in the sidewall though so I figured it was time to swap it out.

Also tried my baja no-pinch tool for the first time. It definitely helped but it wasn't a silver bullet to make all tire changes amazing. I'll be interested how changing the really, really stiff sidewall rear goes with it vs a fairly soft large diameter front tire.

Oh, and I re-printed my Grom's fork legs for ones a bit taller and that go further back. Big day.

I really wanted the baja no pinch. But after how easy the front tire change to the Tractionator GPS was, i don't think I need it.

Im looking forward to changing to a Motoz rear, but don't want the center strip, so i think Ill do an Adventure rear when the time comes (probably next year)

I like the GPS front tire so far. But still like the look of knobbies!

Don’t ask silly questions. He is a hardcore off-roader!
@fatfurious2 use that city slicker tire and come visit the blue ridge parkway.

I want the grip offroad. I like the blocks. I've been seeing reviews that say the center strip looses some grip

I had zero issues with grip offroad. Center strip is a harder compound, IIRC, and keeps the highway from wearing down and cupping the softer blocks on the outside as well as having a continuous contact patch and being buttery smooth. Flip it to the mostly offroad direction and live your chris birch dreams out while still getting 10K miles out of it, yo :bikewhoops:

..I like big blocks and I cannot lie

Edited to add: you seemed frustrated with the short life of your last front. I’m surprised you want to go with a also short life big block rear, I guess

In case you were wondering how fast the Isle of Mann TT moto racers are going (2023 just wrapped), here's a video of the BMW rider going "demo pace" averaging 118mph over a 30+ mi track around the island filled with towns and all the hard unforgiving things in them. "Race" pace is 135mph average.

6th gear skipping off the limiter through a small village seems to have little margin for error. Several racers die each year.

Tried on a couple full height boots while visiting a friend 5 hours away. Apparently only people with chicken legs ride, because there was no way in hell to close them around my calf muscles. Alpine star tech 3s and a Fox boot were all they had in my size and both were a couple inches from their velcro being able to touch.

5500 is pretty good for a front, same for rear?

Im going to let this rear run out, swap to my old rear and get the use of of it, then go to a Motoz Tractionator Adventure

We have different definitions of good mileage  I just got 14K out of a front, and my last few rears I think were 8K (Tractionator GPS, still had life left, too) and 12K (Heidenau K60, which I'll never use again)

So, trying and failing to help a buddy who has a 2022 KLR 650. He wants to get ditch lights and LED turns, and I told him while he's on a ride I'd try to find some install vids, and I can't find shit.

Best I git for the wiring layout, but no good install anywhere.
