Those are extended range batteries...an option.

Actually EVs concern even the people not interested them, 1st they will be forced upon us, 2nd debatable they will be better for the environment, perhaps will be worse. We will go from exploiting petroleum to exploiting minerals even more so than we do now.

True I have no clue why those are on used lots, you don’t think it is odd to give up a nearly new vehicle that was just released? Perhaps it is the never ending insatiable thirst for consumer goods, people getting bored with trendy things and need to buy the latest and greatest… (did you see the new Taco Pro and Raptor Ranger!? OMG!!!) cause buying even more shit that does wonders for the environment. Thought the whole point of EVs is saving it? Let’s continue to extract even more resources to manufacture consumer goods that they will quickly tire of, so we can extract even more resources to manufacture consumer goods that they will quickly tire of…

…yeah sounds like a good plan to me!

Which still proves Bat’s point…let’s make a worthless pickup even more worthless.

According to the article, Toyota caught and fixed the problem before they were released to the public. Doesn't sound like a complete fail to me. Also, sounds like it was a tolerance stacking issue, which is a concern but not indicative of their ability to field new battery technology.

Soon…just you wait and see. There are plenty of devices on my current vehicles that I am forced to buy even though I don’t think they are needed. If I remove them, I will get fined.

Speaking of not interested in buying stuff, why are you even on a Tacoma forum??? let alone the 4th Gen section? You don’t even own one, I have two of them…while not too terribly interested in the 4G, there is a slight chance I might be.

So you anticipate a total gas vehicle ban in your lifetime? Amazing premonition. I am on Tacoma world because I'm a former Tacoma owner and planning to buy the BEV pickup. There's no forum rule saying I have to own a Tacoma to participate in this forum.

Sure it does, manufactures “could” put batteries in the bed, which lessens the use of it. From the patents you can see they have already put a lot of thought into it, how much is it to file a patent, $10K?

His point is that a non extended range mid sized would need to use the bed for batteries making it useless. Not true. Those patents are for extended range and NOT standard.

What I envision is that petroleum is made so expensive, the average day consumer is forced to purchase an EV, or may not be able to afford their own personal vehicle and forced to buy a subscription to be driven around by a self driving EV.

I just find it ironic you lecturing us on people not interested in EVs but can’t have an opinion them. While you have no interest in buying a Tacoma. Last time I checked the 4G Taco wasn’t a BEV. There are other manufacturers that already have them available, why not buy one of those?

Not exactly apples to apples but the first cordless tools (early 80s) sucked. The new ones are pretty darn good. For almost all applications I wouldn't consider using a corded tool.
Perhaps one day, when SS batteries give us 900mi range, we will say "Remember when we used to pull into gas stations every 400mi ?"

Or his point was, to make the under-seat rear storage useful was to move the battery to the bed. Because of the battery the rear seat storage is nonexistent.

Hey, if gas/oil is 'made' expensive it's OPEC. I don't want to buy a BEV from anyone other than Toyota. Their BEV pickup was announced to come for the 2025 or 2026 model year.

No or, he said exactly the bed will be useless in a midsized because batteries will be in the bed. He has been talking this uninformed nonsense for a while.

Yep. We used those early cordless tools, new ones blow the doors off them.

Always “some day!” though…not sure I’ll still be alive when those supposed 900 mile range batteries hit the market, if they do can only imagine they cost. They say the price will come down, but it never does…how much is a “basic” pickup nowadays?

Not how I read it, think you hate the guy so much you read it differently…thought you were ignoring him anyways? Lol!

Sure he talks out of his ass a lot, most of us on here do. Lol!
Taxes have nuthin’ to do with it uh? Gas is a hell of a lot more expensive in Oregon, Washington and California than it is here. The political environment is also different there too.

My trip though there last year I was paying $1.50-2.00 more a gallon than here.

If we went by supply and demand, gas should go down if most everyone went EV, highly doubtful though.

Uhh Texas oil cartels react to OPEC movements. WIth 3 US refineries idled and able to go back on line and don't I wonder why they don't do that? Hmmm

Televisions keep getting better and cheaper. Not all new tech is expensive. I still remember the TV repair man showing up with a box full of vacuum tubes to fix the furniture sized family TV.

Me too! One of my dads best friends was a TV repair man.

Some stuff comes down in price, while everything else goes up!
