Are new cars/trucks going to be better or worse?

It is all a big conspiracy! Lol!

ahhh not really, just the people who really own this country playing games to fatten their portfolios. When EVs take off it will move from petrol to even more minerals. Mining companies are already eyeing up AZ, NV, UT, etc… heard over the weekend from some of my Utah friends we OHVers are going to loose even more riding areas because of resource extraction for EVs. Them kicking us off to dig big holes in the ground will “save the environment”. At least that is what I am told…

Yep, a conspiracy to maximize profits. That's why they exist. Batteries are continuing development of non mineral based batteries and almost all auto mfgs. are recycling end of life batteries for storage use or recycling plants are being built by them. Funny how the oil lovers are suddenly concerned about mining of minerals but not concerned about how oil has and still devastates all places on the planet it is drilled for and chemicals used to refine for gas.

I haven't been forced to buy one. When did they force you to buy one?

You know my stance on what is best for the environment. Only way to stop Man’s influence on the planet is for Us to go extinct, anything else is a fool’s errand.

I like EVs, but let’s not kid ourselves on their impact on the planet.

2035. All new vehicles sold in some states must be EVs. More states will follow. Like I said, we already discussed this many times here. What is this weird love for EVs you have?

I'm a big fan of 60-70s muscle cars, but modern cars are faster, handle better, safer, get better gas mileage, and are more comfortable. Why are we afraid of new cars regardless of what kind of engine (motor) they have?

    Same.

Don’t really care how it is propelled, EV isn’t quite there yet for me though. Do like the Rivian, but kinda useless, it is a status symbol vehicle in my eyes. If I am going to spend that kind of coin on a truck, it better be able to tow/haul something without having to stop every 100 miles for an energy refill. And even then I could spend $30-40K+ less for a truck that can do more, waaay more.

    Straw man argument....

If storage is is a concern. EV cars do not have engine bays. Providing more useful options over a small under seat storage compartment.

Have you not seen the Tundra battery pack? 4G Tacoma will be the same. That is what I am referring to. Not sure how that is a strawman argument. (uh???) Usually when people pull out the “strawman” bullshit, means they lost the argument. Sorry bub…

Bat was referring to the new TGNA-F platform and how Toyota would use it if it was BEV, at least that was my understanding. If they pulled that battery out of the cab and put it in the bed, thus bed space of an already pitiful bed space would be lost. Taint arguing on the intergooglemachine with strangers fun!? :p

I've seen the next model year from other manufactures come out as soon as May of the previous year; it happened with my wife's (then) Aerostar. Toyota is as smart, if not smarter than most automakers, and they know we are on the edge of global economic collapse, so it makes sense to get your vehicles out as soon as possible. I can't imagine the pre-release event that was held in Hawaii was done with the same "Excite The Masses" like Sony does with their phones, or Apple used to do with lead time on their new products. I'll be shocked if the new Tacoma's are not released before September.

Somewhere way back in this thread it was mentioned by Carmaker that manufacturing switchover would be in October, I believe. Hybrids quite a bit after that.

I definitely like all that dry storage in the frunk. It’s much better than the new hybrids that kill the only storage we have, under the rear seats. Where are you supposed to store any thing in these new trucks?
