While changing the O2 sensors today I thought why not clean the MAF sensor as well and I noticed a small blob building up in the top-right corner of the top of the sensor. Does anyone know what this is? I tried to scrape it off but some of it stayed caked on.

Pretty sure that's just the hole they use to fill it with epoxy to keep the circuit board in place, nothing to worry about.

    Thanks for the reply!

Well I scraped most of it off. Is that bad or do I need a new MAF sensor?

Thanks to everyone that replied. Looks like the stock Hitachi MAF sensors have this blob/epoxy. I’m such an idiot for scraping it off right away.

    Thanks to everyone that replied.

If you are that worried about, dab a bit of RTV or Nail Polish over it.
The chances you caused any damage are almost 0%.
The only thing that could happen is a bit of water might make its way in.
But again, the chances are slim to none.

I know a guy that wouldn’t do anything about it, and would not worry about it.
    That guy is me;)
