Do the headlights need a new pilot light? Maybe the headlight burners are plugged up ;)

Just kidding…unless they are actually gaslights lol

I finally put away the clamps, and ground away as much evidence of my welds as possible (stay in school kids).
It’s ready for a cleaning and primer, hopefully tomorrow! Then fab up some mounts for the factory roof rails, as I want to make those work out so I don’t have to worry about water ingress (theoretically at least).B6BA9F42-8B7A-4659-9D57-09371069A49A.png

My hope is that this thing will make my 4runner as useful as a pickup. Yes, maybe not as convenient because it’s a little higher than a tacoma bed height, but at least it’s not as high as some of these F150 or Ram beds lol. Height on those are ridiculous.

I guess I wont’t be able to throw a half-yard of top soil on the roof, but you can’t have it all!

Nope. They are electric, but the wire that Chev used had a particularly bad cellulose that cracks and falls off. I have rewired most of the truck but the bulb plugs for the head lights are a particular challenge. I can buy new pig tails at $200 ea (FFS!!!!) but I just need to get motivated and do it. Don't drive it at night anyway.

    @pearing

You have firetruck  that is so cool.

Besides a firetruck, what other neat vehicles do you have that you haven't told us about?
    Train ?
    Airplane ?
    Model T Ford ?
    WW2 Halftrack ?

No work for me today :bananadance:
I'm going to paint the ceiling in the kitchen, dining room and back hall.

Now, just sitting on the deck having coffee.
The faint smell of manure in the air and little black bugs in my coffee.

It's all part of the adventure.

Finally finished up the full 120k service and even wrapped it in a nice bow for next time. Waiting for parts and time to do it are only half the fun. Thanks to @Thatbassguy for mentioning new plugs.

Oh there will be some mods all right
Going to be going with a new business/rust proofing product for this winter. I was driving 35 minutes 1 way to get NH Oil sprayed on but I recently discovered a place right here in town does rust proofing and they use Corrosion Free ( https://corrosionfree.com/ ) which appears to be as good if not better than NH Oil. I know many of you spray on Fluid Film yourselves but I would much rather pay someone else to do it plus Fluid Film gets rubbed/sprayed off too easily in my opinion.

Bonus mod: Figured I'd get the diff breather extension out of the way while I was ordering new parts. PXL_20230702_233636101.jpg
    PXL_20230702_232733675.jpg

Don't have to worry about anything now besides the next oil change for a while. Definitely gotta tackle the rust before winter. Are you guys still doing a Wool Wax day?

I have a portion of the frame on our truck sprayed with the corrosion free product as a test
I also have most of the rest sprayed with Cosmoline.
The corrosion free product is a little thicker viscosity than the the fluid film but thinner than the Cosmoline when spraying on.
The Cosmoline when dry is tougher though but the corrosion free product will slowly “creep “even after it’s been on for months though.
