The straight math courses (calculus 1-4) was a bear only because there was no real practicable application in my life. The classes revolved around deriving some equation and trying to apply it to a theoretical problem that is non-tangible to any sort of day to day function.

When I took fluid dynamics, soil mechanics, groundwater modeling, structural analysis, etc......we needed to use all the theories of those classes, but there was a real life problem presented that required solving. Felt like I was actually getting somewhere when taking the tests and doing the labs - calculus lives in the theoretical world. There was no real grounding rod - life revolved around some dude's name (looking at you laplace transformations) and some concept that meant nothing other than needing to prove I could regurgitate an equation on an exam to pass.

I tore all the ligaments in my right ankle doing a trail ultra last October. Take care if the ankle, injuries suck. It's better and quicker healing to break it than tear stuff. It took me 4 months to get out of a walking boot, and even with pt, exercising pretty steady and hard on my own, plus continuing to front/ back squat the majority of the recovery period I still only have like 70% mobility in that ankle, and won't likely get any more back.

Diff eq was definitely not too difficult all things considered, and kind of fun. I had way more difficulty with calc 2 than diff eq. Fluid mechanics I did not think was bad. Thermo could suck my nuts though. Fuck that nonsense.

I used calc and diff eq quite a bit when I was a consultant. Now I don't use anything other than algebra and geometry and here and there. Its glorious.

For those of you with trailers or RVs, what campgrounds do yall enjoy? Rumors at the one my wife has been going to since she was 7 and me since I'd been dating her is that all transient sites will be gone next year and we are literally heartbroken if that's the case. Prefer places with full hookups and incredibly close to the beach. We basically have to walk 100 yards to be on the beach.

    Happy 4th yall

I can help with inland camping, but I generally avoid the beach. If you want my list of places we go with full hookups, let me know but none are walking distance to the beach. They all have some sort of pool, water park or lake on them though, some with sandy beaches but fresh water.

In MA for full hook up sites, we like Normandy Farms and Pine Acres. Venturing outside of MA, Moose Hillock in NH is cool (Moose Hillock in Lake George is nice also, but we didn't like all the fees they kept tacking on), Wolfs Neck in ME is neat, you can get a site right on the ocean but it won't be full hookups and it's a rocky coast. When the tide is out, you can explore the tidal rocky shore. Pinewood Lodge in Plymouth was nice, not far from the ocean and full hook ups. We've been trying a bunch of others as well in NH, ME and VT but those are the ones we have returned to.

Moose hillock NH is on our list. Looks pretty sweet. Meh on Normandy farms, too close to hone lol. Pine acres looked good too. Found one in Maine by the ocean too, Seasport shores

I agree on Normandy being close to home, that's sort of why we go there. We tend to make our first and last trip of the year to Normandy. First time out, if things go south, we're close and last time there's minimal travel time so we can take our time and really pack things away, flush things out before winter storage.
Pine Acres is fun. Lots to do with the kids, sites can sometimes be tight to get into, but generally not an issue. A lot of the same amenities as Normandy (albeit scaled back), but not as pricey and a little more campground feel vs. the resort vibe you get from Normandy.
Moose Hillock is cool, but it's a hike to get there. They were building some cool new pool area, but we haven't been there since it opened. The sites at Moose Hillock are huge and pretty private.

Coming home from SC yesterday Waze diverted us off of I 84 just west of Hartford on to CT Route 2. Then east to I 395, Route 6 into RI, then I 295 to I 95. Normally we'd have taken I 84 into MA and the the Mass turnpike to I 95.

My only guess is that the turnpike was AFU somewhere along the line, but I didn't see any news stories about crashes or anything else.

I don't know down here that much, to be completely honest. I grew up in Old Orchard.

RI - Burlingame, we've gone here, it's a full on campground. As you exit, go across the road, you're going toward East Beach which is also one of our favorites. But it's a small parking lot, so a decent weather summer weekend - good luck. That's where the RI beach driving is though, so if you got that pass, there's usually plenty of spaces there, they'll wave you on through. Not with the camper, though. Well, maybe with the camper, I dunno. Check it out, might be a good spot

    https://www.reserveamerica.com/explore/burlingame-state-park/RI/252711/campsites

NH - Full on campground, busy lake, there's a cool site that's basically an island. Lake, not ocean beach.

    https://newhampshirestateparks.rese...roundDetails.do?contractCode=NH&parkId=270061

Then we get into things I actually know about - Old Orchard Beach

Wild Acres - huge, the bottom of the hill is super close to the beach. Wagon advised. There IS a train track close to there, I don't know the schedule off the top of my head but there have been times I've heard it stupid hours.

    https://www.sunoutdoors.com/maine/sun-retreats-wild-acres

Also in OOB, powder horn, paradise park are nice, not super close to the beach and the center of the universe, BUT those have trollies to get you around. Bayley's is way north but same idea, trollies. Bayley's is a pretty nice setup pool/playground/etc but it's pretty far from the beach.

Fortunately/unfortunately, depending on your standpoint, over the past 10-15 years or so, OOB in general has gone away from the honkey tonk. Galaxy burned down, Reefer's closed, Krazy Klam (The ORIGINAL one) closed and they bulldozed it for condos. The only old guard still left is the pirate patio. Soho and the Brunswick are still there, but have gone hoity toity. OOB is way more accessible for a night out from Portland, which is way more popular to the NYC/Boston crowds, so it's really trending in that direction nowadays. Airbnb et. al. was a big draw to the area as well, way more people finding it and coming up/down. Practice your French :canada::canada::canada::canada:

Well, there was rain and apparently this state goes into a state of panic any time there's precipitation so Waze was doing you a solid and keeping you away from the amateurs.

Someone on another forum mentioned heavy rain in central MA, so maybe that was it.

Considering how much rain we ran into on Saturday in NC and VA, it seems silly, but not everyone is the "never let weather" kind of guy I am.

I had a fluids professor I really liked, he was down to earth and a good dude. Was NOT a fan of snot nosed underclassmen, so when I had him as a freshman I wasn't a fan, but then it was a huge change once we got to finite elements with the guy.

My DE professor was Russian, and we walked in one day, he doesn't say a word. No introductions, no "hi how was your weekend", just draws a stick figure on the board. "Okay, there is body in my basement...." (Draws x's for eyes). "We check temperature of body, find 87 degrees. How long body in basement?"

Thinking back to fluids I got an exit velocity of like Mach 2, I asked the professor if that seemed high and he said "I can't help during an exam, but it is not a waterjet"

    That sucks.
    May haunt you for years.
I stepped in a pothole on a boat ramp at night 30 years ago and had a good sprain.
I still get zingers now and then if I move it wrong.

I injure my ankle or knees every so often. Started with high school vball. Once they're loose its prone to happen. I've still been riding the bike and towing the kids with it. it hasn't been hurting too much. Definitely developed some bruises lol. Picked up a brace for it and plan to enjoy the rest of vacation.
