Funny enough this morning when it wasn’t already a hundred and fuck you outside, it was all Rutherium, I put the ikh24’s on. Before the convection oven really started to get going and cooking every Braincel I have left, I swapped the easy side. So yes, now I am running two different types of plugs Ruths under the blower. I took it out for a test drive, let it warm up and I don’t have any detonation anymore.

But I don’t know much about all this crap so any information is really good. I would love to know how to run methanol one day, but what does it mean when the spark plug is all black around like that and only in there for a couple hundred miles at max. Is that normal?

I put the Ruths in and had some detonation, I changed the easy ones to ikh24’s and so far no more dets.

Just curious if someone suggested to run two steps colder? Usually you don't go colder unless your builder/tuner suggests so. Are you sure you were detonating? What ruthenium Plug number is that? Plug looks normal, just Rich from that left over soot. Is that after you cleaned off the electrode? Normally the electrode or strap may be coated in soot as well. I'd probably watch for premature fouling as you're running a step colder than other rigs and I'm pretty sure others might be more modified than you.

After observing some more what ruthenium hx plug are you running? Most of the insulator is all white on the ruthenium Plug but yours appears to have the 3 bands of the regular plugs. Assuming you were running the wrong plug in the first place. Get the right plug IMO

i think if the ruths dont appeal the iridium22 ist a bad choice like ngk. i run methanol so too cold a plug isnt helpful. its already getting more fuel/water. if that helps your decision. but with annual plug swaps you can always do something different:thumbsup:

nkg ruthenium LFR6AHX-s. According to rock auto these were the right ones. I don’t know if it’s detonation. I’m pretty sure it is. It sounds like a valve top but it’s not all the time like a valve type. It’s only when i demand for acceleration. One of my buddies always has had SC’s for 30 years and he said try stage 2 cold. It’s hotter than duck outside in Phoenix right now so that’s probably could be the issue but it’s had this problem for a while, but lived here I
Most its life. I just haven’t had time to work on it now I do

You were running the plug for the stock naturally aspirated application. The plug is the correct application for the vehicle but just not for that engine set up. As per the first page, you'll want NGK P/N: LFER7BHX/ 95125 for Ruthenium or the NGK LFR7AIX-11/ 2309 for Iridium. Imo you'll still keep running into problems not choosing the correct plug but if it works I'm not going to tell you any different. Only you can tell.

Ima write that down in the notebook that’s good info thanks. I had the right plug in there at least one time…I think’s’… I will take a picture tomorrow and posted of the IKH 22s, are the right plug yea? but they turned a little bit yellow on the porcelain some of them. That’s heat no? Originally had stock copper for long time no issues hmm should I just go back to simple copper maybe even?

IKH-22's are yes... But given the octane rating out in AZ and here in CA sucks as well as the quality, I would swing for the Rutheniums. Better application, as it is specifically tailored to run on boosted engines.

Thanks but only the new plugs I have are the ikh24’s, yeah. I’m temped to just put them under the blower and see. I thought I was doing good ordering those Ruth’s, turned out to be another mistake at less less than $100

How do you figure it was a mistake.

Don't run IKH-24 they are too cold for these setups in stock or close to stock configurations.

@Suckafartout I run the Ruth's in my truck here in Az.. but like you... I'm not familiar enough with this stuff to pick up on what's good, bad, etc. I havent noticed anything out of the ordinary, for me anyways..

Well, it turns out I’ve been informed that I bought the wrong Ruth’s, so now I have two different types of plugs in my truck. Both technically are wrong. Funny enough it’s running better Lol
