I think it would help a lot, I've tried to get more out of other 5VZ SC setups and I think that's the main stumbling block, the air charge just is losing a ton of density. On the Haltech equipped ones I have control of most variables but I can't do anything about that one. I'll get a time slip eventually, I can't make the test n tune this upcoming Friday because I have to go meet a doggo. But there's one on my birthday that I can make :D

    The Trifecta of Taco's
    ALL OF THEM!...Then some more.
not that Im getting into this arguement, but for the sake of science and to set a myth straight.

Boost doesn't mean power. As in 8psi from you isn't the same as 8 psi from his turbo. Or a different turbo.

It's all about air flow(duh, we all know this) and pressure is just...well pressure. not air flow.

So most likely even if you could hit 8psi all day. Zane is flowing more air with his turbo at only 6psi. so moar powa baby with less pressure.

which is why you can have the same engine, but different turbos and totally different boost pressures and get the same power. Now your power and torque curve would change a lot.

Thus the art of sizing a turbo to flow correctly for your engine to match the curve you want.

Which is why I also think Zane could do a smaller tighter A/R exhaust housing to get spool faster. But he'd be in boost all the time. Which isn't always desired so yeah.

    Okay carry on.

I hate to ask, but does anyone have ideas for how to thicken the OEM trailer hitch receiver plug so that it stays firmly in the receiver? The hitch measures 2 1/8” and the OEM plug appears to be designed for a 2” hitch. So it goes in but it’s not firmly in there. Was thinking of 1) some adhesive or magnetic tape on the inside lip of the plug or 2) stapling rubber washers or something on the edges of the plug to make it thicker.

Yes and no. Airflow and pressure are directly related to each other. No pressure, no airflow. Air density (effected by temps) is were the 6psi turbo vs 8psi supercharger HP gain makes the difference. Different turbos with different turbines on the same engine you have to take into consideration the back pressure and valve overlap degrees that will effect boost pressures along with compressor size and design (maps) Thus the art of turbo sizing as you stated.

After years of always tucking the damn rubber trim pieces on the fender flares back in, I bit the bullet. Pulled them all off. Cleaned them up, and put some adhesive goop on them and reset them.. Let’s see how long it lasts. My ocd likes looking at them perfectly fitting for now.

Sure I get what you are trying to say, volume is the factor when it comes to making more power. That's true and using boost pressures is less accurate, although related, but is readily available on our setups.

Also, I thought that it was lagging more from his tuning than the outright capabilities of his turbo hardware. It was like a light switch at 3400rpm. I suspect he can easily fix it but has it that way for drivability. Needs to have that kill tune on speed dial

And remember, my comment was that he should turn it up, and we know he can. Yall are a little upset that the supercharger with mods, as archaic as they may be, can make some decent power.

Guy gets married and ages a decade wtf I still wanna argue like old times.

I would argue if you're measuring psi at the same point on the same engine at the same temperature at the same throttle position, it translates to almost identical mass airflow. It's pressure/velocity of the point you're measuring and therefore the cross-sectional area of the measurement cavity that affects readings via Bernoulli's principle.

People like to believe what you said because it explains differences across similar engines, but comparing the same engines with the same manifolds it's usually very similar boost-to-power since it is static area and you're post-differences from things like intercoolers and piping. The main culprits of non-ideal comparisons are temperature and fuel (and water, ethanol, etc) ratio that you have to compensate for after the measurement point, which the supercharger faces heavy losses from.

I bet Zane and I would hit similar horsepowers at a given RPM and boost level, assuming our tunes aren't wildly different at this point.

I remember seeing somewhere, someone took a block of wood to put inside the cover and expand the sides out so that its a tighter fit. Probably would take a little bit of trial-and-error, but no sticky residue to deal with.

Replaced the wrong size exhaust flange gasket with the right size.
