2020 MT, only use 87. No engine knock. I suggest you get the tune reflashed and clear the learned values out. That should get you right as rain.

My wife just got her 2017 A/T tuned with v10 (Lite throttle came down from Normal throttle) and we get a weird engine noise also. I'm presume engine knock. About the same gear and using 87.

We also are experiencing high RPM 2100-2500 RPMs cruising at about 65mph and through our neighborhood at 25mph and this is with the Normal throttle and lite so far. Is any one else experiencing this? We're still testing the lite tune to see how my wife likes it @wahoobie is helping us figure out the right tune for my wife. He has been a great help and glad he's right around the corner from me.

I reset ECM/clear TCU and reflashed from Lite to Normal V10. I was on V9 Lite and felt I’ve lost the right amount of HP/Torque with V10 Lite. I removed the K&N straight air intake and reinstalled the OEM intake hose with resonator and seem to work much better with V10 Nomal. I’m so glad I’m able to reflashed and experiment with different tune files on my own. My MPG hasn’t improved though. Bottom line, I’m really enjoying this update @PapaRee
    Thx!

Like many of you, I’ve had issues with my 3G Tacoma constantly up-shifting. It seems like it was racing against time to see if it could get into 6th gear, regardless of my driving situation. I wish I knew someone personally who had a tune installed on their truck, but I didn’t, so my research was done through online forums. This led me to KD Max. There weren’t many tuners in my area, but I was able to make contact with Mike, from the NV area, who put me in contact with Chris, @wahoobie. I asked Chris way too many questions, but he was patient with each one I asked. I purchased the tuner kit, and with some guidance, was able to install the KD Max v10. I went with the “lite” option as I have the factory size tires. Was I expecting 0-60 times in the 4 second range? Of course not. The truck holds gears as needed, especially during uphill climbs. The throttle response is predictable, which is what I wanted. If I need anything more, I just tap the ECT button. It’s been about 2000 miles since I’ve installed it and I have zero complaints. I definitely recommend reaching out to Chris, @wahoobie, if you’re interested in tuning your truck.

Chris was how I started too! He really is a great guy. His professionalism, along the outcome for my truck and lack of tuners in upstate NY, was what prompted me to join the team actually! Absolutely no regrets!

Can anyone compare to 9.0? Is it worth the upgrade?

    The short answer is yes.

I was really happy with a custom version of 9 that increases the throttle tip-in setting thru each gear. I’m now on the same custom version of 10 and will say it’s a significant improvement over 9.

The improvement between 9-10 is similar to the xt-9 jump. I’m happy every time I drive my truck.

I've been running the KDMax tune since Pro+XT and really can't say much more than what has already been said: the tune is basically a must-have.

My only comment in regards to the tune is that with 265/70R17 tires, the Lite throttle setting has been best for me. Normal was just much too twitchy for my setup.

I forgot about this when I installed 10.0 a few weeks ago on "Normal" throttle and had been meaning to re-flash it to "Lite". Well finally got around to it last night at about 8PM pacific time and for some reason VFTuner just crashed right in the middle of the calibration. Of course I kind of freaked out wondering if I had bricked the ECU or something, so I messaged @PapaRee on here to see what I might be able to do.

Within 10-15 minutes he gave me his phone number and let me call him and walked me through the process for fixing the truck (it wouldn't turn over after VFTuner crashed), even though it was much later in his time zone.

That's some serious customer service in a very "oh shit" moment! Thanks again Kreg!
