Well, you don't use glass cleaner on plastic, and you don't use paper towels on plastic.

Right...Toyota nailed it with this instrument cover. It's all the owners who blew it.

You shouldn’t wipe down your headlights with glass cleaner and paper towels either, did Toyota blow that too?

Duh! You’re supposed to use watchmaker tweezers with collectors grade microfiber towelettes specifically designed for faberge eggs, moistened with pretentiousness

Amazon not bringing anything up for the 2016-2023’s

    does me no good

I looked at all the options and there’s nothing for the gauge clusters on the 2016-2023’s

Like I said on the previous page of this thread, It’s a 3 piece set. Gauge cluster, head unit, shift indicator.
All of the kits come with gauge cluster film, the only difference between the options are which head unit film it comes with.
Select your year range and the proper headunit
    [IMG]
As for the Amazon stuff I’m not going to search through this thread for you, but people bought rolls of protective film, cut it to fit and posted about it.
If you are looking for pre-cut films I believe this is the only option for the gauge cluster

Their pricing makes no sense. One set is the same price as two brand new OEM replacement lenses. It's rip off!!

Glad I saw this thread, my truck is less than a year old and the pexi glass is scratched all to hell. Been wiping it with a micro fiber towel. I just didn’t know. Crap crap crap. Must be really cheap material Toyota used. I like the suggestion of using a optic cloth for glasses on it. Don’t want to replace the part right now.

For what it's worth, in another thread @TekITGuy indicated this is what he uses to clean the lenses:
What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?
The product mentioned there evidently has a derivative product to remove fine scratches.

Today, as an alternative, I tried Zeiss Cleaner and Microfiber cloth. Rather than wiping, I sprayed the cleaner on the cloth, and used a dabbing motion with the cloth on the splashes I saw on the lens, or on a collection of dust, and you know what? Doing that alone seemed to work well. I'm happy with the results.

I use a shop vac to vacuum my truck and I just switch the hose to blow side and blow dust off lens. This is just strong enough to remove dust.Do not touch the lens with anything or you have done scratched it!Works for me.

Paper towels are the equivalent of sandpaper on any plastic. Use a cotton or microfiber towel. Do you clean your sunglasses with paper towels too?

Yup, ran into the exact same issue, but ours was already a scratched up mess.

Tip: Agree with @PoolFixer, never, ever use paper towels on plastic. Even tough plastic will scratch. Second, throw the Windex in the trash. This is part of every pro detailer's go-to:
If you have the time, this Novus Scratch Remover kit will bring the cluster cover back to new condition. However it's a tedious multi-step process and unless you have a need for it elsewhere, for just a little more as you said, you can buy a new instrument cluster cover.

THEN, per @Canadian Caber's recommendation, install Screen ProTech film and never worry about it again.

Lots of folks install it over scratched screens and said that it makes the scratches disappear. I wanted a "fresh start" so I installed it on a new instrument cluster cover. Installing it while the cover is in is a little challenging, but not that hard. Installing it while the cluster is out is easy-peasy. Let it dry for 24 hours and you're good for many, many years. The film for the stereo screen makes it look great and eliminates fingerprints. The film on the shift console made the scratches on ours disappear.

    My $.02 ;)

Congrats and enjoy your new ride!

EDIT: Just noticed that I was responding to a 3 month old post. :anonymous:
