I call them Fraternal twins. They were never going to be exactly the same anyway, right?

I used Natura Onecoat two-part hard wax oil for the first time. Easy to apply and looks amazing.

    Got a decent score today

Our elderly neighbour's husband passed away at the beginning of the year and my wife is friends with her and kinda helps her out with stuff around the house and drives her to town to get groceries . Her husband was a bit of a dabbler in woodwork and when they had a pacific yew come down on their property about 10 years ago he had it milled up . She knows I'm a carpenter and offered the wood to me to use . I went and picked it up today , its all milled at 5/4 thickness and has been stickered and air drying for about 10 years . There is some firewood in there but also some nice pieces

For reference the long pieces are about 12' long and the curved butt pieces about 4' long and 18-20" wide

Simply tell anyone who asks that you have a his/hers, intentionally mismatched. Suffer the stifled giggles at that comment and accept the compliments on the construction quality overall.

So right now I'm leaning torwards a Bosch sander and a fein I dust extractor, it'll save hundreds and still be leaps and bounds better than what I've been using for years. I'm choosing a 5" for a few reasons, I have a ton of 5" paper, 5" paper is less expensive and readily available anywhere, and a 5" sander is much more forgiving and easier to handle. The Bosch is still pricey but I like the low profile. I have other Bosch tools and I like them.
I have a $150 Christmas gift card I never used so the cost for me will be minimal.

Idk, personally I’d go with your choice for dust collection but spend the extra Benjamin for the festool sander. Thank me later :)

Sounds like a good plan. I have two Bosch routers, full sized and palm, and I don’t have any complaints about either. I have seen excellent reviews on the Fein dust extractor. I think you will be very happy with that system.

I went with the Festool Random Orbital Sander ETS EC 125/3 EQ-Plus. I had been using a DeWalt 5” for 5+ years. I could not believe how much better the new sander works with my new CT-26 dust extractor. I feel like the paper lasts forever and does not clog up. It also does not vibrate as much so my hand is not buzzing after a long sanding session. Another plus is how I can leave the power cord and vacuum hose hooked up and just change out the domino for the sander. The auto start feature is also pretty “bougie” according to my son.

I've seen some reviews that compare the 2 sanders and they are pretty comperable. I think I would be happy with either one honestly, especially upgrading from a dewalt 5 inch sander with no dust collection.

I read the the Bosch is considerably more aggressive. It depends upon what you need.

I like that you can sand / saw / domino inside a client's finished building with the Festool tools and CT-26 for installs

It can be depending on what mode you put it in. Of course this is all dependant on paper grit and pressure to. I seem to do a lot of glue ups so something a little faster at times would be good for flattening large panels. From what I read and watched the 6" is far more aggressive than the 5" I'll let everyone know how it works for me when I get the chance to test it. I probably won't order it until next week. I won't be able to really put it to use until I get the dust extractor to use with it. If need be I could always get a smaller sander to go with it. I have several routers, why not a few sanders? I don't think there is one do it all sander.
    I also like this one........

That is cool, for a professional I can see that being very important.
But for me it's a hobby, I'm not a pro, I just like to do woodworking of all kinds, turning and lathe work included. My basement shop is my happy place, not my job, it's my escape from the troubles of the world and work.
