3.5 in RC Lift on 33’s
Hi everyone, I have a 2019 TRD Sport with 42,000 miles. I bought it at 39,000 completely stock. I put a 3.5 inch RC lift kit with 33 inch grapplers. At highways speeds, sometimes even on normal streets, I get lots of away where I have to correct constantly. I hate driving my Tacoma and don’t know what to do. I’ve changed the steering rack, full suspension, upper and lower ball joints. I’ve bought a lifetime alignment on my truck since I’ve tried to align it like 10 times and nothing has helped. I have it set for a positive caster at 2.6. Please help so I don’t have to sell my truck for cheap, thank you!

Is the frame straight? Prior accident?
Find a shop that knows lifts and suspension tweks... hard to diagnose on a forum without driving the truck.

Check front wheel bearings- one of mine failed and my truck (1st Gen) would track wildly for a second then go beck straight.

when I bought the truck stock is already had swayed. I thought that it was bad suspension so that’s why I just went for the lift.

No accidents and everything’s straight. I took it to a custom lift truck shop in south Florida and they said it drove straight. It clearly didn’t when I drove home and almost got in a accident since it sways so much

I had a mechanic put it up on a rack to check it and it seemed fine, but back on the road steering was having problems. We were coming home to So Cal from Oregon so I kept going and finally when we got home it was obvious and I had to have it flat bedded to the service center. They had just put in new bearings so it was under warranty they said it was the bearing race that was bad (if that helps in your case).

How much wider did the stance get with lift/wheels/tires? I had an old dodge Durango that got wider tires on and for a good while when the tires were new it would pull all over the road really bad cause it was grabbing different parts of the road. If they are well traveled streets and have dips where most car width tires drive and wear down the road and then your truck is wider it can have trouble finding a good flat surface to drive super straight on. I thought I really needed an alignment but it wasn’t doing it on nice flat roads. Just a thought

Sway bar links, bushings. Did you use the swaybar spacer with the 3" lift?
I had to use it on 2.5".
Does the front end make any clinks or clanks....sometimes a bolt just forgets to get tightened properly. :)
Just throwing other stuff out there.

For mine, just racking it and checking wheel wobble wasn’t enough for inspection- one has to pull the wheel and physically check the bearings.

I get that with road noise in my town. Always has me thinking the suspension is loose/wore out when it's just the roads.

That's what I was thinking. Sounds like something's loose. When I did my lift, with UCA's, I had my caster set at +3.8. Very stable on the road now.

    not sure what that means.
If the truck had the issue beforehand, changing out all those parts just made your search much more complicated.
I would get it to a well know local off road shop.

BTW; a lot of the "lifetime alignments" aren't worth a shit, they are not going to keep going back doing work for free.

Might be the tires .. before I switched out my Toyo at 3 I found that the truck would pull to different direction and would have to correct a lot even with an alignment . Changed the tires to bfg trail terrains and the truck drives straight now .

borrow a set of tires from another tacoma? may as well eliminate things as you go.

my first instinct was to say Alignment. but damn..

Sounds like you have covered just about everything. All I can comment on is to try another similar tacoma. These are trucks, not high performance sports cars.
