Gone are the days of getting excited over how something looks, now it is “guess I’ll get used to it…” “how much does thing cost again that I don’t really like how it looks???” $**,****.00 “Really!?” “Fuuuuuuuck me….”

Why is that? Is it because of the stronger engine?

Seats are more comfortable, smaller hood profile makes it easier to see. Overall the truck is a bit smaller and easier to drive. As far as the engine, it seems to hold gears better and doesn't hunt around like the 3.5. Mileage wise they're both about the same on long trips, 21-23mpg if you keep it at 65mph

So, you didn't have to sit flat on the Gen 2 like the Gen 3? If so, I wonder why they changed it.

Overall the seats just feel better to me in the 2nd. I have the leather seats on my 3rd and man are they uncomfortable and stiff after a couple hours nonstop

I'm surprised by how well my seats look after 10 years of ownership. They don't get sat on all that much which I'm sure helps. They sound more dry rotted than they used to, but they are still in great shape.

Seems like the new Land Cruiser hasn't left a place for it in the line up. Could end up a NA only vehicle. If it's a different platform from the Prado I don't see Toyota building both vehicles in Japan. I really can't see 5G 4R lines running simultaneously with the new Prado/GX/LC line. Only Toyota knows what they have planned.

2nd Gen and 3rd Gen share the same frame and cab but the 3rd uses high strength steel.

Maybe out of the loop but the next LC isn’t going to be a Toyota badged version of the new GX? I’ve heard rumors of a short wheel base FJ type of roader but those rumors have faded as far as I can tell.

What ever it is it will probably have an iForceMax 2.4t engine and have a purchase price equivalent to a Ferrari.

It's so ugly, you could stick its front end in dough and make Silverado cookies.

I don’t care what it costs or what it looks like, if I like it better than the third gen I’m buying one.

In my opinion, the air damn is the only thing that makes it look bad. The Pro and TH look better than any previous gen. I will miss the 3rd gen OEM LED headlights though.

If it is any consolation to anyone, the 3rd Gen is fucking ugly too…every time I walk up to mine, I think…”gawd damn that is one butt ugly truck!”

Best looking Toys were the ‘79-83 HiLux/Pickup. :)

Oh dear gawd! The gen 3 owner whining is even worse than the gen 2 owner whining in 2015.

I guess some spent these years honing their whining skill to prepare for the new release..

Hm interesting, every time I walk up or away from my truck I stare at it because I think it looks so freaking good.:)

You are telling me it looks ugly in this pic?!
    :D

But yes, I love those older pick ups. Wish I could own one.

I am! Didn’t care for the 2nd Gen Taco either. Only bought mine because it is a Toyota, not how it looks. Though, I do get compliments on mine a lot…think to myself “ummm…ok?? If you think so!” The grill…whole front end is awful to me. Side profile/rear isn’t too terrible. Where are the amber turn signals??? Toyotas should have amber rear turns. At least that is just me.

Prefer the vintage stuff looks-wise, but also tired of spinning wrenches. New stuff sure does ride nice, bet the 4th Gen is even better. But just when you think they couldn’t make them any uglier, they do!

Do love the interior of the Thurd Gen, the door panel armrest are little doofy looking though.

Toyota and Chevy are making the best looking trucks on the market right now. Love the look of the new Tacoma. If I didn’t have a Suburban to pull my holiday trailer I’d be getting a Silverado or Tundra. Some of the early renderings of the new Tacoma had a little bigger grill akin to the Tundra which I think I preferred being that I’m a former long hood Peterbilt driver, but it still looks awesome.
