The reason that used vehicles are artificially high here is because the Automobile Dealers Association (some years ago) cut a deal with the legislature to make it illegal for individuals to buy from auctions. It was put into place to keep regular people from buying vehicles from actions and flipping them which ultimately competes with dealers.

Well, same here kind of.

DMV will catch wind of you "flipping cars" as that happened to me.

I'd actually register vehicles I bought, even if they were being flipped. That accounts for the over 13 different Corvettes I owned, along with a ton of other vehicles.

I forget the number but after registering and later submitting for release of liability, the next time you go in to register yet another vehicle (within short time frame) they'll ask why so many transfers. They'll give you a verbal about needing a reseller's license if you are indeed flipping cars. But you won't get fined or anything...and it won't stop them from registering more in your name as you can buy as many cars as you want.

They just want their share and want you to pay a fee for a permit to do so.

On the plus side of having a seller's permit is when a vehicle is purchased for resale, you are exempt from paying registration fees even if they're due. The fees are paid by the person or entity you sell it to (if fees are due and it's being registered in CA) when they go to register it in their name.

 

A lot of things are unusually expensive here. We have signs to warn people about it.

Yeah after a really quick glance at LX470s pricing here vs there, makes me wonder why in a state with higher income and costs (CA) would have a plethora of vehicles sold for less than in a state with lower income and costs (AR)

 

When you have lived somewhere else, you'll never be the same.

 

KPO alignment cam octagons, durobumps, tie rods, ball joints. Anything else I should do when I'm in there for LCA bushings?

 

From Texas to Ilinois, Georgia to California, even South Carolina...I think the place I missed most was Germany.

@amyracecar I never tried dunking bread into butters the way you described yesterday and although that sounds good as hell, thinking I'll make baguettes today and a pizza dip instead

 

yaaaa I've heard nothing but good reviews. My suspension setup is pretty dialed but it will be nice to stop banging the LCAs on the frame so hard while wheeling lol

 

I haven't lived in that many places. If I had plenty of money, I know how to have a good time in New Jersey.

 

Dropping off rock ledges at Moab felt like falling onto soft pillows; I ran them on the front and back of the 4Runner



When I first installed them I thought I would've had to chop them but nope, they still allowed a lot of tuck and never limited my up travel.

 

Mine cracked/split twice but he was super cool about sending me out new ones when it did, good customer service.
