    I've heard the same situation happen to some of my colleagues in the past. Finding out the hardway is not a good thing for sure. So in order for employees to be well informed, this information regarding holiday pay and what not to do has now for the longest time been part of our new employee orientation. But sometimes, not everybody abide to it and some are willing to take the no pay for the holiday instead.

    Almost all of manufacturing has the policy of day before and day after a holiday to get paid (unless scheduled PTO). I've never thought it was a problem.

    When I worked I have had customers that had this policy. On the other hand if you had a doctors note saying you were sick on the holiday, my company would give you another day off. Don't know if that is still in effect.

    I was out all day today, completely soaked my shirt, shorts and socks along with a full-size towel that I was using as a sweat rag. Damn humidity and sun are trying to suck all the moisture out of my body. I was staying hydrated all day but now I have a headache from the heat. Only thing worse than this is driving a big truck with no AC, I don't miss that shit. Fucking greenhouse and the windshield acts Iike a magnifying glass.

    Accidental home fire caused by fireworks.

    I drove by after work and saw the damage...yikes!

    Not sure if their home insurance policy covers accidental fires.
