    Thanks for clearing that up.

Most of the cars he has on his youtube are old junkers that people donate to him anyways.

it is true, but not wise. you need a new fuel pump and filter and maybe new injectors. If the motor is not hot it will not ignite the oil or bio fuel. need to run diesel to get the motor hot and then you can switch over to bio fuels. so you need two fuel tanks

cant they just put the diesel additive in and kill the emissions as it comes out the tail pipe. just like a new diesel?

Yeah, i mean dodge, ford and chevy have produced diesel trucks for the typical consumer to buy...

Toyota could push clean diesels with the Land Cruiser, Tundra, Tacoma, FJ, 4Runner, and hell maybe the Highlander too.

There is a reason why third world militias use diesel powered toyota trucks and SUVs...

im pretty sure the US military uses all diesels??

after owning a 3.2 TD 4x4 suv i would agree it is just a more reliable platform. but, the R22 motor is another great choice.

in the British show "top gear" what is the motor in the Tacomas they take to the arctic circle? guess in extreme cold I might opt for petrol.

Yes the military used diesel (JP-8) in everything to include it's a/c. The difference in the JP-8 and the regular diesel is the lack of lubrication in JP-8 so as long as you run a lubricity formula in your diesel you would be okay. I burn stanadyne in my VW with the ULSD and at 159K miles I've had no problems. The problem with veg oil (www.tdiclub.com) is the way it burns unevenly. Use it for a prolonged time and "YOU WILL HAVE PROBLEMS" unless you modify your refining process....

You are correct...no more gas in NATO it's all JP-8 but I'm sure some countries still burn gas. In the big players in NATO everything burns JP-8 (diesel) including our generators....

I would like the see the VW Diesel in the Tacoma w/ a well made 6 speed Auto or Manual transmission. If you've ever driven a new Jetta wagon, you would know why.....;)

I haven't driven the new Jetta wagon out of fear I would buy (LOL) but it certainly appears to me most mpg is now being achieved thru the 6 speed auto tranny and maybe a little gearing on the rear end. If Mahindra can do it I don't see why Toyota can't do it. Of course Mahindra isn't in the states yet due to the law suits but I guess we'll see what happens in time. What surprised me this last weekend when I got service on my Lexus I looked at the CT 200h wagon and with a 1.8L engine (136 HP--I think) it's getting around 43/40/42. (In town/highway/avg) That tells me Toyota may be on to something with the ABAT which looks like will be the new 2012 or 2013 body change. If they (toyota) goes that direction I see a very sharp little pick up in the very near future. By the way the Lexus burns Reg unleaded which adds to its attractiveness as far as fuel alternatives go. There are alot of things Toyota could do to a 136hp engine to include turbo-charge or s/c it to maximize hp. Toyota may be reading these blog and trying the alternative to diesel with getting something for gas that will look very attractive. They just aren't telling anyone. If England with their smog control laws can get diesel I can't see why they're wouldn't be but a simple mod to get Tacoma diesels here. Not sure if you drive a diesel but alot of people are afraid of the unavailability of diesel. Never had that problem yet!!-- but I do plan my trips and I know what/where to look for it...guess we wait and see. The good part is maybe we won't get a nuclear fueled engine....LOL.

The Jetta wagon does not share the new body style which is fine with me as I feel it's a very well balanced, good looking vehicle. The Diesel is superb with loads of bottom end torque, exactly what you need in a usable truck chassis. On-ramps are enlightening to say the least.;)

No I'm not Diesel fan at all, in fact I really dislike them, although the VW is AFAIC in another world technologically. After standing behind a running Jetta talking to a salesman for 15 minutes, there was absolutely no smell of any kind. Very quite and unobtrusive.

I really feel this type of technology is the future, especially for the light truck market. If Toyota put something like this into a Tacoma and made some additional AFAIC, needed interior ergonomic changes, I would seriously look to buy.

Even though I'm a 5 time new Toyota owner, I don't offer up blind faith, Whom ever I buy from has to offer the goods.....Well Toyota, It's time to step up to the plate:thumbsup:

Funny thing is, even if Toyota installs diesel there will be bunch of people driving 80 MPH and still complaining about fuel mileage.
2 gen truck does 23 MPG on highway. Thats very very very good. In light city driving stays above 20 MPG. And thats pickup with 6500LB towing capacity.
So even if reaches 30 MPG with Diesel not much incentive there. 6500LB towing is there to allow pickup to be below the Parkway thresholds so people still can drive it like a car.
Also I doubt many people asking for Diesel know what means to own diesel. Not the same thing as owning gas truck.

If you take a look over at T4R.org I think somebody there put the TDI into a 4Runner after his wife totalled their practically new VW.

gents I am all for diesel , here my two cents about what manufacturers call CLEAN DIESEL . on Few occasions i was in Paris and couple of other Europian cities where Clean Diesel is common in cars trucks Vans and Buses. The Air i was breeding had a heavy sude oder which i always associated with Diesel fumes, Again this is one mans observation. maybe this is the reason EPA and most american cities dont want Diesel in regular vehicles. There are lots of talk about availability of Diesel engine for Tacoma on this site. As I mentioned before Toyota already has Diesel engine in many of their vehicles i around the world , so Toyota does not need to reivent the Engin e for North America, Toyota needs to pass it by the regulators and market it here .
