Hmm I guess I should have ordered 2x *3. Dangit.

 

Factory idlers have rubber seals hidden behind a large washer. Aftermarket upper idlers don't include a new washer, so you're expected to re-use the old washer. Aftermarket lower idlers typically include a new washer and new bolt.

Did you order Continental idlers? They are made right here in Vaughan.

Order a second lower idler for the tensioner pulley Just keep in mind the tensioner pulley bolt is LH thread (righty loosey). Lock the tensioner with an allen key before reefing on it, so the belt isn't resisting loosening torque.

 

Meanwhile in the 4Runner forum, one guy is complaining his fake hood skewp wasn't watertight, causing the hood insulator pad to get wet

Today in the 401 Crawler build, got a Curt jack pad P/N 28272 for the 4Runner. Fits right over the factory jack to spread the load when lifting by the transmission crossmember.

yeah i had that issue. i have a spare one in my parts bin if you need it. Amazoom (sadly) was the cheapest. Was like $100 at Napa in Whitehorse when i changed it. While you're there, might as well replace the other 2 idlers (we have 3 in total, 2 are the same).

Mine is definitely not this bad. maybe 2mm of wiggle but that nice wirring and chirping noise.

Hopefully mine doesn't get that bad. I bought all 4 (gates), should be here Friday. If you can pack it for the Bancroft run, it could still be a good backup as you'll pass me on the way back.

 

Pickering Toyota was able to order the gaskets. $10 for the round one and $12 for the oval. I trust your p/n's were correct If they don't come tomorrow, the lower will probably be ok till Monday It was barely any slop compared to the uppers.
