60+ year old thread.

A Jeep couldn't hold a candle to that vehicle, then or now, in off-roadability. And yes, I wish I still had that LC. I bought it new in 1976 for $5700. Couldn't find one in running condition today for 3X that.

A spray bottle of Aero-Simple Green, (did you know that regular Simple Green can't be used - it corrodes aluminum!) and lots of old T-Shirts for a few of us. All manual! Look carefully - the oil disappears!

I've always been intrigued by those radial engines. Engineering marvel IMO.

 

Thanks for the pictures Kurt. . There is something about looking at the older planes and how they have survived with TLC over the years.

THX Guys. I sort of thought there are no longer any high-performance N/A engines. Everything these days are super, or turbo charged. BTW I did have an electronic ignition on the 66 I owned.

I fixed my stupid description mistake! The plane looked exceptionally well taken care of. Pilots told me this particular bird had never seen combat before, and had been used in the Movie Catch 22. It is owned by the EAA. Once again sorry for my stupid mistake.

No problem Mark, It wasn't a "stupid" mistake, It was an error in description. It happens to us all at one time or another .

 

Not record breaking here, but definitely HOT & muggy out!!!! 2 hours cutting grass yesterday and 2 hours moving leaves/compost tonight with more to do tomorrow..... on the hydrate!!!

HiYa Sue! Yup, mowing tomorrow and watching the temp go up! We got spot showers all over today, but nothing to measure.

 

Evening Kurt, won't need to mow until next week, but have other yard work to do. Heat index in the 100's and summer has definitely arrived. No rain today, but a chance every day for the next week.

 

We're out of chances, and I almost hate to admit that a healthy yard can need mowing more than once a week. But not in these temps! Do it before the weekend, and admire. Then pretend I work all week!
