That's my guess: it's Zucker's replacement. There is no more room for a money guy in the forward position. Now we need a goalie.

 

I bet we get Gibson and make Ana hold some salary. I think Hellebuyck is going to NJ.

 

I wouldn't mind Gibson, a Pittsburgh area guy, like JT Miller. No room for Miller though.

 

NJ is going to be tough ...top 3 team to win it all next year according to NHL radio.

I believe it. This past year they really came on. Young, fast team. They are going to be good.

 

Dubas claims the trade does not affect what they do with Zucker, so we will see. Just hard to imagine it happens, when we need a goalie. BUT I don't think he brings back Dumo. Def gotta make sure we have Phoeling, OConner and I'd like Archibald back too. It's just funny because we have like no 20-something year old forwards.

Also, this might be a stupid take but if rumors that Jake G wants a sizeable raise are true, I'd consider trading him. I love the guy but I just don't think it works if he gets more than 6m, on this team. I actually would've done the exact trade that the Jets did with LA. I would take Vilardi, Iafallo and a pick for him. Just my opinion.

 

I would definitely like to have Archibald back. He's a great energy guy for the 4th line. Poehling and O'Connor worked well together and have potential. Dumo's time has passed and I don't see Zucker coming back since, as you mentioned, we need a #1 goalie.

 

Archibald gets 2 years with Tampa. Bummer. Zucker to the Coyotes for only 1 year. I guess his injury history dictated this. Pens get Nieto. Likely 2nd or 3rd liner? Poehling not tendered, signs with Flyers for $1.4M. A head scratcher for me. I thought he was a solid 4th liner and relatively cheap. pens apparently get Joona Koppanen on a 2 way contract. i know nothing about him. Is he an energy guy?

 

Orlov is a good defensive pickup for the Canes but if that huge $7.5 mil AAV for 2 years stops us from getting another high dollar scoring forward we won’t see a cup this season or maybe even the following.

 

Pens re-sign Jarry, 5 years, $26.88 in total. the devil you know is better than one one you don't. they also signed Noel Acciari, a guy Dubas traded for while with Toronto and are trying to swing a trade for Erik Karlsson - if they can ditch Petry. Now they just added Ryan Graves. Forget Karlsson. Dubas sure is coming in like a gang buster.

 

PLD to LA ... pretty solid C lineup. Cam Talbot and Trev Lewis signed 1yr deals. Also good to see JQ go to childhood fav team NYR and goon LUCIC back to beantown.

 

I need Pens to announce Karlsson. Suspense has been killing me all weekend. Get it done.

 

Got to see if Dubas can make it happen. I like what he has done so far. One way or another he has at least one more deal in him to get the Pens cap compliant. I wouldn't be surprised to see DeSmith go.

 

Ya, we have I think 4 goalies on a 1-way contract lol. But we have options to make the Karlsson deal happen, so I hope he can do it. He fits what Sulli likes to do and I think this team could certainly use that transition / offensive boost.

 

What resources do you think can make it happen? Petry and/Grandlund got to go to make cap room. Petterson is another option but I think the Pens need him. Certainly a 1st rounder, or more? Maybe one of the few top prospects we have, like Owen Pickering? Maybe Rust, although we need him too?

 

I'm not sure. I was reading that it'll likely be a 3-team deal. SJ eating some salary and then the 3rd team will eat some of the salary too and get a prospect or some asset in return for doing so. I would prefer to keep Petterson just because we sort of need a guy that plays that way. I'd be ok moving POJ. Granlund I think they have to do something with. It's going to be creative. I'm sure there are other teams that have more assets but I think Dubas can get it done. And to some extent, EK can make the call as to where he wants to go, also. It will be interesting.

 

Yeah, I'm ok with POJ being part of the trade. I would like to see Smith given his chance.
