Only if you just want it to LOOK like you go off road. Or only go out a few times a year. It really only preloads your factory coils in front giving lift but no additional strength/better ride. I would think it would be harder of a ride since you'd be compressing the coils more. And don't even get me started on blocks

Check out the bilstein section. They also have rear leafs and AALs pretty much everything ya need. I think you can get discounts if you mention TW helped you find em. But I'm not for sure about that.

    Here is a question:

What are the CONS of adding a spacer in the front and a an AAL compared to the STOCK truck, not other lifting options such as new shocks etc.?

A little stiffer ride... is that it?

    My other question still remains:

If I get the Bilstein front shock and AAL in the rear, am I all set or do I need to install anything else?

Depends on what you set the 5100s to.. Some, not all, but many say they needed new UCAs with their billys set at 2.5", especially if you want the best alignment. With the 5100's set at 1.75, you should be fine with the stock UCAs.

If you raise the front 1.75" and have a 2" AAL then you will have a little more rake than you have stock. Same would probably go for the TSB and AAL combo, and a little less with just the TSB. Note that your AAL will give you a little more at the start but will settle with weight and time to the spec'ed height.

I had my 5100s set at 1.75 with a 2" AAL in the rear for about 7 months.. Wanted a little more lift, but wanted to stay away from new UCAs (if possible). Recently changed my springs to the 884s and the billys set at 0".

Tell you the truth, I "think" there is a slightly better ride (may all be in my head), but do like the little extra lift that I got..

Waiting for my Timbrens to come in, and the springs to settle a bit before I do a small build thread...

Well I would like to avoid messing with too much. Still looking for a simple/quality way to lift my truck myself, without altering too much, without spending more tahn like $350 when it's all said and done.

Are you gonna do a bunch of the work yourself? Other than maybe using a spring compressor? If you are, bump your dollar amount to a 100 or so and you can get better than a spacer lift...

Plus, think of it this way, spend what you have now, or save up a little more, and you can start with components that you can add to and build upon.. for example, buy 5100s now and in the future, you could add some OME springs, or buy the Coilover components and still utilize the 5100s.. Buy spacers, and there is not much you can add to it to make it a more "quality" build..

Also, although 5100s in the rear are suggested with a AAL, I ran mine on stock Struts for a while before going billys in the back..

But.. either way... it's your $$$...

    This is what you need:

http://downsouthmotorsports.com/i-13...djustable.html obviously this is for an 95.5-04 tacoma but Downsouthmotorshops has them for 2nd gen tacos. same for this and for this,

just find the ones for 2nd gen.

and you can get this to protect your angles if you want too, not needed.

Its inexpensive compared to other options, its safer for your truck, its a better ride, it lasts longer, it looks good.

Its everything you will want and then some.

Remember to go to Downsouthmotorsports.com and register there so you can get a promo code for your shocks. Its a nice discount that DSM did for TW members.

    Hope this helps!!!! GOOD LUCK!!!

I just did the 5100's set at 1.75 with the toytec non-tsb aal and got about 2". Just the right amount of lift for my stock size tires to not look too small. Plus, it rides so much better than stock! And parts were only about $360. Got the 5100's from DSM, great price with the discount!
