I pulled the seats out of my Tacoma this weekend and when I put them back in I plugged everything back up and now no matter what that aggravating seatbelt flashing light on the dash will not turn off. It doesn't matter if the seat belt is buckled or unbuckled, etc. Anyone know which wires on the plugs I can cut or short to to make it think the seatbelt is snapped in? And yes I tried all the usual tricks holding the odometer button etc, I'd rather just do a hardware mod and kill it for good.

Did you disconnect the battery when took the seats out?

Yes, if you search on here there is a code you can run from your phone to a bluetooth OSBII that will kill the chime. I did it years ago so I didn't have to hear it go off with the dog in the front seat or hunting in the bush :)

You wanting to kill the light or the chime?
The chime can be turned off, the light not so easily.

On my 06 PreRunner I unplugged the seatbelt light plug under the driver's seat and it doesn't blink regardless of whether or not the seat belt is plugged into its socket.

    I solved the problem!

If I left the 2 prong seat belt plug, unplugged, the annoying seat belt chime and the annoying seat belt flashing dash light continued. So I tried experimenting.

I do not know why this worked, but it 100% worked!

with the truck off, key out and standing outside the truck, I unplugged the 2 prong cable. Then I took a piece of wire and stuck it in both of the holes of the plug. (see pic).

Still standing outside of the truck, I started the truck.

the Annoying seat belt chime and flashing light were still there.

I hooked in the drivers side seat belt, then unhooked it.

the annoying seat belt chime and flashing light was still there.

i pulled the jumper out of the plug

the annoying seat belt chime and flashing light was still there.

I turned the truck off, and left the 2 prong plug unplugged, with no jumper. Thinking another failed attempt.

    I left the plug unplugged

The next time I got in the truck to go somewhere, i put the key in and started the truck and NO CHIME, and dash light flashed a few times like normal and then goes off! Seat belt on or off, now no chime and no annoying dash light. :)

Maybe someone knows why this worked?

What kind of redneck engineering degree do you have?

That makes no sense. But glad it worked.

LOL! It's called being frustrated after trying everything that is supposed to work and it didn't , just start trying sh*t.

I call it luck or finding an unknown glitch in the system.
