For me just the looks alone was a reason to get the trial. I would take the wheels, black seats, lift(I have yet to see a 23 trd on the lot with the factory lift) grille and painted rear bumper over crawl control.

I fell in love with the looks of the TE, unfortunately heated seats aren’t available so it was a no-go. Ended up with my TRDOR, I’ve used the heck out of the heated seats, the surround view camera is used daily and I'm also happy that I have the 6’ bed for my oddities.upload_2023-7-6_15-14-21.jpg
Oh, and the LED headlights and park assist. I will admit that I did pay a markup but less than half of what they were asking. I suggest you find the truck you want for a price that you’re willing to pay and don’t look back. Good luck!

Agreed 100%. It's a pure money grab by the dealer. If people would stop paying them, they would go away. The dealer who just sold me my '23 gave me the whole spiel about how I'm getting such a great deal because today's market is totally different, I should expect to pay over MSRP, yada, yada. I would never pay a dealer markup on any vehicle, but that's just me.

These trucks are still hard to get but not worth paying 2-9k over msrp. Especially when there are plenty of dealers not doing this.

I've had this happen and walked out, went bak, and dealt with the internet dealer from a diff dealer, and they need up trading the same or similar from the 1st dealer. This was awhile but got it under asking closer to the invoice. When I get quotes online basically you can virtually get them into a bidding war. someone will always go high but the one guy l looking at volume and bonuses is looking to move as many as they can. Thats the sales person you want.

People’s situations are not always the same. If the stealership’s giving a person two grand over what they’re were willing to take for their trade, and the trade was burning oil making a person eager to unload it, then two grand over may not be an unacceptable trade. Sure, if a person has time wait for a more favorable market or more agreeable dealer but keep in mind that the trade continues to depreciate and the potentially six thousand dollar repair continues to inch closer with every mile…..different situations.

And people will pay what they consider a fair market value, that number fluctuates, sure, we all want to feel like we’re getting a deal but it’s still a big game and if you wait too long a person may end up paying more for the less reliable 2024 taco. Oh, but it’ll be for MSRP……that’s higher than the total including markup of the 2023.

Agreed. I would likely never use crawl control.

as far as lack of fog lamps , LED headlights, etc. I plan to upgrade all the above at some point. I may even upgrade the audio ultimately as well. I’m indifferent about the bed storage. I do get use out of every truck bed I’ve ever owned, so I may end up parting those out for other parts I want more but I’ll see.

My beloved red Tacoma Sport was totaled by a red light runner so I searched every dealer within 300 miles of Omaha for a lunar rock Trail Edition. Found 1 that was available beginning of August and 1 available at the end of August. Both MSRP.

I texted all the dealers in eastern NE and said if you have a deal fall through on one, or you get a surprise allocation, call me. 2 days later I got a call and brought her home the next day. I paid MSRP but I think I could have got it a little lower if I had time to play hardball.

Around here interest rates have taken a lot of steam out of the market. I had an offer from our nearby dealer on a lunar rock Sport with 6 foot bed for $1500 under MSRP. Won't fit in my garage.

I haven't bought new since 2018 but it really sounds like things have really changed. I have never paid MSRP though.
