For all of the good in a 3rd gen, the stock engine/trans tune absolutely sucks. That was the one thing I really missed about my 2nd gen. In '18, I drove out to the Black Hills, almost all of MN was in 4th gear because the truck would downshift to 4th climbing a small hill and then not upshift for miles [and miles(and miles)] and you couldn't use 'S' mode to push it up to 5th. That would no longer be the case. Coming back from N GA. last fall, pulling the same trailer and bikes, I rarely dropped below 5th. That was with KDMax XT (version 8), version 10 is even better!
