@Ozark_RegCab The area where I grew up in Little Rock was to the left of and slightly east of the twin-top (Pinnacle) mountain in this picture. It is a state park now. It is a mix of mountains to the west and delta to the east. A former coworker from LR just made this picture.

They have a pretty strong smell to them after driving. They’re still pretty new so maybe that’s it.

We’ll see. That’s a low priority for now.

So I uninstalled the upgraded mean green alternator from my truck and I've been running the stock one. Mean Green charging voltage was fluctuating constantly from 10v to 14.4v depending on idle/moving, in drive, headlights, AC on, etc. The stock alternator that was working fine the last 141K but is now wanting to push 16.1v+ when I installed it. I'm using the battery off my flatbed to rule out the AGM. Alternator connector looks fine and I've triple checked all my connections.

I could go try the alternator off my flatbed but it's hard to imagine two alternators are both bad. The Mean Green was making an awful noise when I first installed it and continued to whine the last few weeks driving the truck. I just unplugged the OEM alternator plug and the 16v+ immediately stopped. Guess I'll get going on taking both trucks apart which is my least favorite thing to do.

Edit: Just plugged connector back into alternator after spraying some terminal cleaner on it. It stayed at 14.2v for about a minute then just started climbing again...

It smells like a rainforest down here tonight. There’s a delicious, woodsy aroma in the air.

Don't want to speak too soon but I had two dead voltage regulators it seems. The Denso Suzuki Vitara 105amp from my flatbed is doing a perfect job holding voltage. The Mean Green and my stock alternator both had strange but different behavior.
