Ok Cool, anyone know how much play I should be seeing/ setting them at for upper and lower? I watched the EMF videos on the dodge knuckles but I assume that doesn't really apply.

    Appreciate the help @Sixthelement and @906taco !

No LT, but, when locked, my 35s are hitting the metal fender under the battery and wiper fluid reservoir. Looks like the Superbump isn't getting compressed at all against the LCA (OEM) when it hits. Since I don't plan on adjusting the fender until next year when I get Kings, resis, and bucket reinforcement, how fat of a spacer should I put on the bumpstop to get it from slamming against the metal? I ordered both 1/4" and 3/8" from Wheelers, but the total lack of compression has me thinking that I may need to stack them?

start with the smallest spacer and then pull the coilover and cycle the suspension with the tire on to check for clearance in that spot.

This is what EMF says for anyone else wondering

"We tighten the cap right to the bottom and then back it off a hair. It can have side to side movement, but no up and down movement. It just depends on the feel of the joint that you want, but tighten It down by hand and see If there is no up and down movement on the pin, that is what you’re trying to eliminate."

Anybody in here do a big brake kit yet? Looking to order a powerbrake setup, but know the stock caliper with a banjo does come close to the bypass tabs. My concern is spending big money on brakes and having issues.

Over the weekend I’ll have to cycle things I suppose. But if anybody is running something I’d love to know.

I've been running 4 runner calipers and rotors. The power brake setup has recessed ports so shouldn't be too much closer to the lca. They are way lighter than the stock calipers too which is nice.

We are a power brake dealer, so if you don't have a line on them already, let me know

I was talking with Power Brake at expo, but then never heard back from them. That was one of any big questions was weight with the one piece rotors compared to Wilwood

Shoot me a number. I’ll order tonight.

Going to talk with Delon today to see what his thoughts are. I know @EatSleepTacos had issues breaking banjos and I recall something coming close on mine as well. Either way, it’s time for more stopping power. And powerbrake seems to be the best option available.

are you looking for stopping power or just torque?
if it's just torque you want and haven't had temp (fade) issues I recommend starting with just higher friction pads.
it's hard to compare friction coefs across companies since they don't provide real numbers, but i've always been happy with Hawk pads for all sorts of applications so I typically stick to them plus they have reasonably visual temp/friction curves posted for each pad.
with my overweight setup I ended up picking up the LTS pads to try this season.

for a non-straight up racecar application (meaning longer between service/inspection intervals) i like having dust boots on my pistons, which the powerbrake setup does not offer.

Alcon has dust boots but is heavy iron calipers (but that does mean you can run more pressure comfortably if you are overhauling the entire brake setup)

I've disagreed with some Wilwood engineering on some of the products they offer so i typically don't take them too seriously

Stoptechs look nice and I run them on my BRZ but they are focusing on maintaining brake bias with the rear drums, which is great for most tacoma owners, not so much for my specific overloaded application, so I decided against going with them.

maintaining brake bias = not a significant increase in torque.

I’ve had EBC’s on for a while now. It’s not enough. Pad life has dramatically decreased and I have started developing a pulse in the front.

Pad contact area plays a massive role in braking/longevity. Powerbrake offers the largest rotor of any that will fit under a 17” wheel.

With the truck being a half ton over weight I feel BBK is my only option. Especially on a build of this caliber

Are you still running stock lower shock bolts? They are tapered and will cause a popping sound. I recently learned about this. I've had popping sounds for a long time and thought it was the same as you. Could be this.

I haven't bought them yet, so I can't know for sure that's what mine is.

With the right caliper, we can fit a 360 x 36 mm under a 17” wheel. Not a huge difference, but more is more… the pads are enormous.

    Too many to remember
I’ve driven trucks with ALL the different big brake kits and the only one that actually impressed me was the wilwood kit, especially since the truck was on 39’s.

From the people I’ve talked to, the powerbrake setup is miles ahead of the wilwoods in many different areas. And they actually design their calipers to work with the factory master/booster where as everyone with wilwood claims they lost pedal feel.

@906taco I've driven both and can confirm that the powerbrake retains a factory pedal feel where the wilwood has a lot more travel unless you have an off road with the electronic brake booster or upgrade the master cylinder. Trying to find some pictures of a build we did with The Grey anodized calipers. Looks super sexy too.

Honestly blown away people spend the money to go fast on dirt but apparently don’t spend on the supporting parts, like good brakes to stop our overweight pigs.

I’ve got wilwood on all 4 corners along with the sequoia master cylinder a deleted ABS module and a proportioning valve for the rear brakes and i’m very happy with its stopping power. But I do plan on putting a tundra vacuum booster on in the next couple months to make it even better.

You have a parts list and link to the kit in your build thread? I did the GX470 semi-BBK last year, and the improvements have been marginal at best.
