How do you like it, and how was the install? I am considering ordering one.

So after replacing my brake pads and rotors, I’ve been taking it easy on braking as this is one of the recommended methods for breaking in the new brakes.

My daily commute (HWY 26 for those of you near PDX) has me coming down a steep hill every day. I noticed today on the way home when someone cut in front of me in the tunnel that I started to feel a shudder when I applied more than “light easy braking” that I had been doing all week.

Is this normal/ok? Did I mess up the break in process since I’d only gone ~200 miles since replacing by braking too hard?

stock pads and rotors are prone to warping.

Well Craig so far so good. I had them set run time to 30 minutes because I have the Maligator riding with me a lot, which I have not been able to test yet. As to install it took me 2 hours but I can't contort as much as others (back surgery 2 months ago). Routing the wiring was good and like others have said that darn plug going to the door behind the blue piece was hardest part. Basically unplug and replug everything, program the remotes check they work and your good to go. I didn't hookup horn wires (don't like to draw attention to truck starting on it's own tree huggers and all these days), also didn't use hood switch either, unnecessary in my area that's just me. One more thing if I press the parking brake my DRL's don't light up just parking lights.

Sigh. I want to, cant quite justify the cost. It'll be more than a fresh set of TEs and more than a supercharger

For those that had BestBuy install a COMPUSTAR remote start I wanted to share a tip (maybe some already know this). I had one installed in my wifes car, nearly 3 years ago, and then put one in my Tacoma, my sons Tacoma and my daughters RAV4, 7 months ago after the $100 sale with free installation. Since installing I always get in, touch the brake, it cuts off, and then insert the key and start it again. I just now figured out that you do not need to cut it off. Simply get in, don't touch the brake, insert the key and turn the ignition to "on". Then you are good to go. No more cutting it off to start it with the key. With these 100°+ heat index days this is a nice feature.

Do you also know that you can hold down the remote start with they key in the ignition, then after a couple seconds when the remote start takes over, you can remove your key and get out of the vehicle, lock it, and it will continue running? I figured everyone read the manual :D

No manual for any of the recent 3 we had installed. Just got empty boxes and receipts. For $100 can live without the manual.

I do. Doesn’t feel like the ABS pulse though, that you get from slamming on the brakes to activate it.

No manual with mine either. Do you know that you can use a non chipped key to open the door and turn the ignition to on and you can drive away?

What model is that from VLED? Looks smaller than the universal puddle light.
Do you have a picture of just the puddle light without the rock lights?

Also with chipped key too, 1 of the reasonsI got it. I have used what @Accessorides describes as pitstop. I got it for the co-pilot on hot days, she just sits in her seat and watches for me to return. But I wouldn't want to be someone looking to steal my truck witha Maligator inside. For what ever reason no manual sent with mine either.

It is the max pod with the flushmount bezel. And unfortunately, no. I tied them all into the dome light circuit and can also toggle them with my switch panel

Messed up my 4L in my tcase last fall (it's mechanical inside the case... I spent a lot of time trouble shooting it). Picked up a used case from a wrecker and put it in. 20230707_171826.jpg 20230707_171836.jpg

My experience with ABS is such that "slamming on the brakes" is not necessary to activate it. ABS is all about tire adhesion to the road surface. Hence, the reason I installed a cut off for my ABS; nothing worse than being on a non paved surface, going downhill, with no guard rail, a 90+ degree turn in you future with a beautiful view of the valley below as your brakes "pulse" on and off and you continue, or worse, gain, speed in your decent.

I have ridden motorcycles for years. Loved ABS when I first got it on a moto in the 90's (Ya, I date myself). But, on a non paved road it was detrimental. The same applies to snow/ice. Any surface that tires have poor adhesion is a huge problem for ABS.

So this begs the question as to the quality of the road surface you were on.

And then, it could be something completely different that is the problem. I just like to examine the obvious before I go in search of a solution that might not be associated with the issue.

Good luck in determining what is causing your problem...

    Regards,

    Jim

Spent more time than i thought mounting some glass bedsides.. then shock relocation. Wasn't too bad minus the Texas heat.
