I need heavy duty tow hooks for my Tacoma. I get towed up 30deg slopes at work and I want to upgrade. I’m not confident with these things from factory. Help

Sorry, just realized I did something annoying by posting without providing useful info. ARB from my research mount relatively easily to the truck while actually providing a beefier recovering point. Many of the other "recovery hooks" simply replace the factory ones for aesthetic reasons and aren't stronger.

keep in mind, if the new hooks are stronger than their mounting point or method, they are only as strong as the weakest link.

rotated tires changed oil threw out the old air freshener.
I went with a front mount receiver hitch.

There are a couple of good ones out there. One takes a bit more tongue weight than the other.

    Check 'em out.

My Curt front receiver is awesome, good quality also. But if you are looking for something to tow the truck with, don’t you need a two-point anchor? The Curt has two small loops on either end as tie downs only. The center receiver is the anchor point - I use mine for holding an anchor insert and a tray mounted winch.

This is my vote too. I plan to get one at some point for moving my trailer into the backyard.

I do that too, so handy for parking trailers with. Definitely need a spotter though, all I can see is a big white wall with mine!

See my trailer is the opposite, its super narrow (40 inch deck) so I cant even see it when its behind me. I had to put orange driveway marker poles on it just to be able to back up.

We're 9 posts in and I'm shocked no one has asked what you do that requires you to be towed up a 30 degree incline.

Thanks for that question. I work pipeline in the mountains and you have to be towed up and down daily. The slopes are impossible to drive up and to risky to drive down.

Back to reality. I’m not on pavement. I want info on Front tow hooks. Not what you think you can do.

Probably is reality,,, he might be able to drive up it. Also Friday on the internet, this is also reality.

All the info out there is here already. Not much out there. ARB or front receivers. If I had to be towed like that I would want it centered and tied to the frame as much as possible.

    welcome aboard :hattip:

Now, here’s the elephant in the room question, does your truck ever smoke and stall out when going up those slopes? Mine hasn’t, but several people have reported the issue.

The tow hook that comes on the off-road and pro might suffice, but if you wanted a rated recovery point I think ARB product is your only option.

Does your employer not have standards you must meet?

What is it that's robust enough to tow you up and let you down that much grade where you can't drive?
