    Hey guys, just bought a ‘22 sr5 with 7000km.
    looking for your guys suggestions..
It has a 3/2 spacer and block level with diff drop already installed on it with stock shocks and UCA’s.
should I just upgrade the uca’s and use all the life I can out of the stock suspension and upgrade later? Or upgrade to a full 3” lift kit and sell everything else.
It’s my daily but I’m not far from decent trails every weekend.
Can’t decide between rough country kit or OME kit.. significant price between the two. or get jba uca’s or ome uca’s and upgrade everything later.
trying not to go completely broke on the build either lol
    All suggestions greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Based on what I know (note: I've never used spacers) is that if you plan to offroad at all, ditch the spacers.

Very limited knowledge of rough country or OME. I researched for about a year+ before I upgraded my suspension and went with Bilstein 6112 (front) and 5160 (rear) and Icon RXT, plus some other odds and ends (UCAs being one even though I could have gotten away without them from some info I found). Had a private mechanic do the install and bought product on my own. All in about $4,500. So not cheap. I subscribed to the by once, cry once mentality on this one.

Thanks! That makes sense, I found a kit from them and ready lift.
Would the bilstein 3” ready lift with the 6112 coil overs be a good option then in your opinion?

spacer lifts are terrible on toyota ifs. bump stops are on lcas not shock so you bottom the shock out metal on metal without hitting the bumps causing harsh bottoming and possible damage. also overextends front end components at full droop. also stay away from rough country. their lift struts have the same problems. all they did was add the thickness of spacer lift to the shock body itself so its more or less an overpriced spacer lift.

also no comment of what lift to get because theres already thousands (literally) of lift threads here to look through. depends on budget and use of truck.

I don't know enough about the 3" ready lift to comment. As the last post states, there are dozens of threads on different options. It is a slog, but the best thing to do is pick a few options you think make sense for you, your budget, intended use, etc., and find threads on them. That will lead to more questions that you can ask on those threads. TW was very helpful to me when I was doing my research. Use those existing threads.

Why do you want to replace your UCAs already? I would keep the stock UCAs. I was on stock UCAs up until I put 35s on the truck. 1st mod though - get rid of the spacers.

I also replaced my stock shocks early on because I didn't like how the stock shocks road - too soft and the truck felt like it was floating when I hit a dip on the highway. It would bottom out easily on parking lot speed bumps too, wth. I originally went w/ the 5100s just to get beefier shocks to handle some offroad abuse - it served its purpose w/ Icon RXTs leafpacks. It fixed the issues I had w/ the stock shocks. I went w/ RXTs because I can over time add more leafs to handle more load. I also went w/ the 5100s because it gave me time to really figure out what I wanted to do w/ the truck and what I needed it to do w/o breaking the bank (< $800). I did the leafpack because the bed would squat with barely any weight in it.

Honestly, I would use the truck first before doing any modifications. The main reason to make modifications is to address some shortcomings w/ the truck and you won't know what the shortcomings are until you drive the truck.

When I bought my truck, I didn't have any plans of modifying it but as I drove it over the years I learned of shortcomings that I need to address (i.e., shocks, leafs, and gearing).

My understanding is larger tires don't require new UCAs (perhaps they do for rubbing potential?)

I thought the need for UCAs was with a 2" or higher lift. Mine was about 1.5" up front but to be safe I did the UCAs. Buy once, cry once, the truck was already going to be up on a lift.

UCAs really come in when it comes to fitting 35" tires or 33" tires mounted on wheels w/ the incorrect offset

I was in the same boat. I went with Accutune and spoke with them for a bit and they built me a lift for my exact needs. Great customer service and I got exactly what I needed and very very pleased.

Sorry I never replied to this.

At 1" or 1.5" no you don't "need" to. With that said, I did 1.5" to 2" up front and when I called around to places about doing an alignment on a lifted truck, their first two questions were 1. How much of a lift and 2. did you get new UCAs from stock (it helps with more adjustability).

Again my mechanic said I could get away without new UCAs but that there were advantages to doing it. That is about the extent of my knowledge.

I was considering the readylift version of the 6112. One thing to note is that they come with a readylift version of the top hat which is thicker than OEM and adds the extra .5-.75" needed to get the 3" lift. Does not come with rear shocks but instead comes with a 2" block. Good thing about the front shocks is that they come pre-assembled.

I really wanted a package deal with all shocks, I ended up with the Eibach pro truck lift with a 1.5" AAL. Ended up with a 2.75" front (second notch) and 1.5" rear. Still running stock UCA, alignment specs are within range.
