Is their any one still making and selling the pulley wrap mode?

 

The wrap thing has somewhat dissipated over the years. The general consensus for a good non slipping setup is to run the Gates RPM belt and if you really want to take it a step further, run the double bearing tensioner roller.

 

Still happy with @Roostfactor's Pulley Wrap Mod here. Just sayin'.

 

What size pulley are you running? 2.5 right?

 

No issues here with the wrap mod that @BillDaCat8 came up with. Not too difficult to do.

I'm really behind on this thread because I'm swamped with this new band I joined - buying all the bass gear now too. And building a bass cab with a bit of electrical "engineering" involved (basically just enough to be dangerous).

But yeah, I continue to run the Noose Mod.

 

2.7 stock belt, no wrap mod, no issues so far don't think I'll go smaller as I'm pending aspiration change to turbo. There was a company in Australia that made a kit. I'll have to dig to find it.

 

Yeah 2.5 and smaller does change the dynamics of the situation a bit.

 

He's at altitude though so with chaos physics it probably evens out.

 

With a 2.5 at this elevation, it is probably similar to a 2.6 or 2.7 at sea level. I noticed a minor drop in power as I picked up my 2nd gen near Seattle and drove it back here to ~5500'. Then I dropped the power some more to avoid (auto) transmission issues by putting back on a slightly larger pulley. I think I'm back to a 2.7".

 

All true. I live at 7K ft elevation and most of my driving is done at 5K-8K ft, where my 2.5" pulley nets me WOT boost of about 6psi.

 

Those are rookie numbers. We need to pump those numbers up. (By about 1.5 psi. Haha)

 

So can I run a Gates stock size belt on a 2.7 pulley and have no issues?

Sup yall - long time no talk. Got this engine installed and running a couple months ago and put about 3000 problem free miles on it so far.

Wondering what I should do with the old engine. I've got the long block and the heads just chilling on my bench. Heads were run through by the machine shop the leaking valves were fixed. The heads have some cam journal/bearing scarring but the machine shop said they wouldn't hesitate to run them. Motor had approx. 170k on it before I pulled it apart. No problems with the bottom end that I'm aware of.

Wondering if I should piece it back together and sell it as a long block, or if I should sell it as is.

What do yall think its worth?

 

If the block is salvageable, repair it and sell it to someone who is in need of it. We must continue the 1GR circulation so others can continue to enjoy their trucks long after they have blown their own original engine.

 

Not a single thing wrong with the short block. Bottom end should be stout.

 

Oh sorry. I thought I read the block bearing journals.

Yeah dude, put it back into circulation if it's repairable and the machine shop feels like they can "massage out the wrinkles" so to speak.
