Rookie question: Under what conditions should anti-seize be used? I just upgraded my skid and I didn't see anything on the bolts I took out, but it makes me wonder if I should go back and do that (the instructions didn't suggest it). And under what general conditions should I use thread locker (I did use this when I added the seat jackers as it was suggested in the instructions)?

I already know I'll be figuring something out when we have to change the plates on my son's RAV4. Those screws aren't going anywhere right now.

Use anti seize if you ever want to take the thing back out again, I plan on removing the seats every time I want to vacuum under there, or if I'm building my behind seat storage or something. Basically if you don' want to ever have to dick around with rust, like I did, Anti seize it.

Use threadlocker if you want to never remove the thing, or don't want it to vibrate loose.

Those are just general rules. I'm sure it effects the torque spec's using anti seize (It can rotate more freely vs being dry, so you may over tighten it) But with what I did, exact torque doesn't really matter. Just snug it up and make it a little tighter. Good enough.

If it's exposed to the outside environment, just go ahead and anti seize it. You'll thank yourself later. Anything you plan on removing over the life of the vehicle, anti seize it before it rust's.

I anti seized my washer fluid resivoir screws for example. Exact torque spec doesn't matter, I don't want to deal with a snapped bolt in a year or two, so I just did that while I was under the engine.

I folded the tent for the first time on the truck. Have to decide a good sheet option as the bed size is 95x48. Might go with a duvet over, I think that would at least stay. Excited to be using the tent coming up very soon. Any suggestions on “must” haves for the tent?

Changed the spark plugs and did a full tranny fluid exchange. The old fluid wasn't too bad at all, but it was about 1 quart low and now it shifts sooo much smoother and drives so much nicer. It does have the OTT tune, but now it is really a new animal.

Installed the victory bed stiffeners yesterday.

Question… if I don’t put the d rings back, will I have any problems or regret not putting them back on?

Are the Victory bed stiffies the ones that come about 1/2 way up the bed side?
The TC stiffies I installed on our Taco have 3 rings built in, so you loose 2 and gain 4.
    Not sure on the Victories.

It’s exactly these in the photo I copied from their site. I couldn’t get the left side to line up to put the d ring back on. So I said fuck it and stored it in a bag. It was too damn hot of a day and gave up quick.

It's fine without them. The total chaos versions don't reuse them either.

Looks.like you lost two and gained two.
May or may not have some issues sliding wide loads in and out of the bed.

Wasn't planning on doing anything to my Tacoma today until I discovered the new Winjet led tail light couldn't handle the underbody flush. Lovely.

Ya man. A little can go a long way. Drove my '16 stock for 7yrs. Now I'm dropping a little into it and it feels like driving a new truck again. Another 7yrs maybe I'll get a new one?

Yeah little things make a difference. Right after I got it I did a ton of things to it. That slowed down. In fact the last mod was 6 months ago. The big cup holder, very functional and worthwhile.
