You don`t have a die grinder or dremal tool??

Never had a need to polish feed ramps?

Read above, I have both :luvya:

Die grinder with only 2 champion bits that eat up metal like it's their business...afraid it'd be too easy to remove too much.

My dremel-type tool only has cut off attachments.

Buying a narrow style "file" (mini belt sander) would ensure a nice wide-enough space to be beveled, quick and easy.

As for the feed ramps, not for many years.

Guns are in storage, in another city :anonymous:

Ok I see just an excuse to buy a new tool.

I have so many bits for both I thought most people would also have an assortment as well.

Excuse to buy the right tool.

Someone like you would knock it out easily with a die grinder I bet. For me, it'd take a little longer and my bit would catch a corner and start hitting other areas of my part.

At that point, what should be a 10 second grinding job turns into a little frustration and 2-4 minutes of work (each). And for what I'm asking, my labor starts putting me in the negative :burp:

You say that, but it's so easy to start a project for yourself and put it off.

Mainly cause you get into the "it doesn't pay me" mindset.

Or maybe I'm alone and I'm only a procrastinator with my own stuff :bananadead:

Least you're making money off all your stuff!

Lmao thats exactly the thought process right now. If I work on my own stuff it costs me money. If I work on stuff for other people I'm making money lol. And people keep asking when I'm gonna finish my truck lol.

My shit can sit for as long as it needs to. If I'm working on something for someone else it takes top priority. Some people don't understand that lol.

I only work on my side projects on my days off during the day while the wife is at work. I understand the balance of work and family. That's why I turn down so many jobs. Family is my # 1 priority.

Pro-tip: 14G SS and enlarge the opening. ;)

If you want to make it a market, pick up a HF concrete mixer, coat the drum with poly (truck bed liner without abrasive media), and tumble for a few hours with ceramic media to cut the edge and make it more comfortable in the hand.

i just plain recommend avoiding non-name-brand cordless tools as much as possible. mostly from a standards perspective. dewalt/milwaukee/bosche/makita, they're very common long-standing platforms that are easily adapted. whether it's HF's in-house brands, or letter-soup stuff off Amazon, none of it is compatible with anything else, and it's only compatible as long as the company exists, which is rarely very long, with the exception of 'AC Delco' stuff on amazon...

it's not a performance or quality thing for me-- it's just being able to keep the tool going 5-10 years later with a new battery. my dad loves the menards house-brand power tools. every 5 years or so he's got to buy a another kit because 1 tool goes bad, he needs the tool, but it's only available in the kit, and they won't warranty it because the kit got updated... he's got a whole container of tools that functionally work, but the vender stopped supporting them, so the batteries are shot, and replacements don't exist.

i'll reconsider if HF proves to hold to the new branding standard they've recently created, but currently i remain doubtful.

good idea to me. just verify that it uses standard sized belts that can be bought elsewhere so you're not locked into only buying parts from HF

    I disagree.

Just about every cordless tool platform I've had in the last 20 years has become obsolete. I'm done paying the long dollar for something I know will be replaced with something new and better.

I think we all do that I have the parts and projects for another incarnation.

My problem was I loved my job pretty much the same skills just focused on industrial machinery , power plants etc rather then vehicles . Most all those jobs were also out of town. Also 12hours + days 6 or 7 days lots of holiday marathon jobs.

I would be home working on my stuff some poor women would show up in tears her horse trailer or truck would need some critical care . That turned into far more work then planned on. I think I worked out of town to escape the never ending sob stories.:anonymous::annoyed:

It is pretty much like that with many products .

After 5 years or so everything is in a new package.

Manufactures can not support older versions with capital tied up in parts just sitting on the shelf.

But then that is completely backasswards of what I'm doing

I'd have to buy stainless steel sheets; these were made out of leftover mild steel I have.

If I have a customer order that calls for stainless, then I'll definitely revisit and use this info!

14g ss, i have found, is the best balance for one shot openers. Ss is stiff enough to resist bending and 14g is just enough to fit under the bottle cap. Mild steel bends easier and necessitates cold working or increased thickness to resist that, and then coating so they don't rust.

Definitely wise to use scrap for whatever you can, though! Even if it requires hitting the lip with a grinder to bit the cap.

R&d on the plasma ... farm out to a local laser for production.
