Oof. Are you by the water? Always makes anything a hassle. I do like that about RI - you're almost never more than a mile from the water so there'd be no state if they weren't lax about proximity to it compared to other states.

Yep. Close to the house too. It's nice, relaxing... except I can't do anything without some nosy useless bat on some unofficial commission sticking their nose in my business telling me what I can and can't do.

And I'm not related to anyone in town govt or depts, so....

Oh well. At this rate, inside is nice, and my taxes stay down.

Yeah i grew up near water. Very cool to rent for a week in the summer or winter, pick your poison. I'd way rather have to throw the kayak in the truck and go a few miles than deal with "waterfront" or "wetlands"

I am not sure how knowledgeable/effective our con comm really is. A neighbor called them with a question once and they couldn't have been more apathetic. I'm sure some towns are worse than others - the bigger the town, and the further east the worse it probably gets.

Everything I've done seems to fall within the exemptions list - maintaining an existing lawn, planting native species of plants, placement of a shed on existing lawn. I probably have a best case scenario since I know the neighbors don't care what I do, and no one else can see anything. So, the likelihood of anything getting called into question is slim.

If I knew then, what I know now....

Well, I probably would've never come back to this place. But, I am not the only one affected by choices.

Small town. But, the dude across the way got pinched too(only one with more land than I, and his looks awesome)...

So, they watch him... then noticed I was cleaning this place up, and invaded my space, with threats, warnings. Etc.
Can't side the house. Can't paint. Can't do this, blah.
It's always something. Historic, wetlands, whatever.
Keep getting denied. Watched someone else build, excavate, etc, and asked some questions. Was told "what someone else does with their property is their business, not mine".... so... why is MY property YOUR business?

    Anyway.

I'm going to drop this. This has been a headache for 7 years.

    And something else...

I know a few of yall have firearms...
Better do a little digging, and see what they're fast-tracking under the radar, and trying to get passed with little to no public notice, hearing, etc....

    On a lighter note...

I DID get rained on yesterday, because... well, I'm not sure if its stubborn, stupid, or both..,.

Got rained on in Savoy, then again coming down 9 in Windsor....

ALMOST dry by the time I got home. Dry, clean and re-oil my traveling companion, make dinner, blah blah.

Take the Dyna today... and got rained on again....

Ive cleaned this thing 2x in 24 hours... and haven't shot it since the Saturday before Father's day.....o_O

Either way.... sitting outside now with the dog, listening to Make Them Suffer, and the thunder rolling through the hills.... nice way to close out the day.

Thunder? Man we went to the beach and now I'm cooking some chicken on the charcoal grill sitting in the shade outside. I've had way too much sun the past couple days. I wear a sleeve on my left arm (tattoo) so the tan situation is hilarious.

We still have properties in Texas, and IF it becomes a problem, I'll use my FFL buddy to ship items in question to my other address.... it.l be tracked and recorded.

I'm so sick of the crap. My youngest is 11... so... as of now, we are stuck here until she graduates.....

Why can't there be a place for moderates???

    Anyway...

I only do the left arm because it's only a year old and super high traffic area, and there are 3 faces in that area. When it's easy enough to just slap a sleeve on, I do.

Yeah but it's Bentonville Arkansas :|

I need to figure out a way to deal with the invasive poison ivy in my yard. I was never allergic to it until about 3-4 years ago so I could go crazy and spend a day ripping all of it out of the ground but now I break out if I look at it too long. My wife got the worst case of poison ivy I've ever seen this early summer. Though to be honest, I need to call in the pros to get my yard back under control. It's so overgrown and looks terrible, but there's simply too much to do for one person and even if I focused on one area, the rest of the yard looks awful. I'm embarrassed, if I'm being honest. I think I need to throw money at the problem and get the pros in to give me something simpler and easier to work with.

I feel like I've failed homeowning, but it's one of those things I just don't care enough to fight. I haven't even turned on my irrigation this season.

I don't know if any of you have ever checked out the American Heritage museum in Stow/Hudson MA but we went there this weekend and it's awesome...if you like military stuff.
    https://www.americanheritagemuseum.org/
They had an active tank demonstration and were driving tanks around a field. You can pay $500 to ride in one or like $1500 to drive one...I just watched...
    In September they have
World War I / Early Aviation Weekend
    September 16 @ 9:00 am - September 17 @ 5:00 pm
This weekend we will showcase the original 1917 Nieuport 28 – America’s first and oldest fighter aircraft. We aim to fly it each day* for our visitors. We will also pull out the 1909 Curtiss Pusher for an operation exhibition. There will be other organizations bring and display their accurate World War I artifacts, equipment and replica aircraft with original rotary engines.

If you play Battlefield 1 it's crazy...looks just like the plane in the game...

Battle for the Airfield WWII Re-Enactment Weekend
    October 7 @ 8:30 am - October 8 @ 5:00 pm

Anybody have a need for a mostly stripped down bicycle trailer? I ended up picking up another one and using parts to add a storage rack to the back. @GarlicFarts I know at one point you considered one. Not sure if you got it or not.

Yeah, it would be a great project if GF doesn't want it.

And for everyone's amusement, a quick vid about real serious suspensions:
