@soundman98 That’s the point exactly. It’s not an on going relationship. They stop caring the moment they got my money. No effort on sending the part in a timely manner and they claimed they test every part, supposedly-before sending out.
It’s a valuable lesson though for me and others here on the forum. Buy local and install your items before powder coating (still sounds silly to me smh).

while it sucks that they provided a defective assembly, yes, you should have checked for fitment and operation prior to having the studs welded and the powder coat.

Not sure what company you’re dealing with, but it sounds as if there CS could use a bit of work.

The video needs to be hosted someplace like Rumble or YouTube. Has nothing to do with an iPhone/iOS operating system.

If they sold the bumper as a powder coated product (arrived coated) then replacing it with a non defective and coated unit is on them.

If you had the bumper coated prior to test fitting it (and prior to noticing the defect) then I don’t see the vendor being responsible for reimbursing you for your coating cost.

Just as an example, nearly every Sunday morning custom car fabrication show on TV shows the hosts test assembling their vehicle prior to sending it out for paint. It seems like common practice to do this.

My guess is you were tired of waiting, got excited when the bumper finally arrived, and immediately sent it out for coating so you could mount it on the truck ASAP. It is human nature and completely understandable to skip the test fit step. Unfortunately, this time it bit you isn’t he butt.

I agree with the above. It sucks, but live, learn, and move on.

I have a guess who would the vendor be. The name starts with R based on the time you had to wait.

Ya, that's terrible. I hope your tire don't fly out going 80 mph. I wouldn't drive like that

Well one, I wouldn't use that sort of "mount" for a full-sized spare.

I'd use square tube, with a large gusset underneath with the tire plate slightly angled back.

With that said, what part is "defective" that's making it wobble?

You said it had to be welded up after you received it? At first glance before welding it, I would've questioned it's strength and integrity.

Would be nice to know who the builder is. I really need to save other people from spending money on this cheesy, POS carrier.

    @Kyebasse
No but it rhymes with far. lol
The wait and all this trouble is understandable but the way it’s handled for me. Communication is far in between. They don’t give you updates. A monthly check in while waiting for the bumper would be nice. I have to hound them. When I asked about this defect I gave him 3 days to hear from his shop for a solution. No response, no urgency, no apology. Then I had to follow up.

@Ryeguy yea. Pretty much did all the work myself except holding the bumper up. Can’t test fit first without cutting. Had to cut the bedside fenders twice because I had to cut blind.

Much smarter to leave it on the pallet and bring it straight to powder coat. Don’t have the man power to physically pick it up for transport. Visually everything fit the bill to paint.

It's also the way the mount itself is attached to the rest of the bumper.

All around looks like a bad design, and I'm just an at-home welder.

My choice in material would have been a 2" square tube at 3/16" thick or 2" x 3" rectangular tube at 1/8"

    20230708_151839.jpg

Then gusset that thing at each end

I think they’re trying to budget on materials by using laser cut plates instead.

There is no way that square tubing is more expensive than that mount.

Personally I like the KISS method when doing things like this. No reason to reinvent the wheel.

Good thing this is an easy fix.

Just name the company. This thread is pretty worthless without the knowledge of who is doing this. Complaining about quality and then watching others get screwed over is very boy band'ish.
