I watched the video with my wife. Her reaction was,,,
    O my goodness,
    Makes it look easy,
    No thank you,

But,,, she said that if I support her more with her selling her Mary Kay products and she earns her free car than I get to do the portal axles.

    Seriously, she said that.

    Dream over, back to reality.

    But she did say it.

    Wife says she likes you.
She wants to know if you need any of their men's products.
That's not me asking, it's her.

My support for her consist of me bringing in the FedEx delivery.
And remodeling a room for office.

    Disclaimer,,,,
I don't use any of the product.
    I am naturally beautiful.:anonymous:

Sooo...anyone have a preferred method/tool for removing broken 10mm bolts without enough material to grip at the surface?

    Asking for uh...a friend.

E-Z out, or weld a small bolt to the stud.

Enough exposed material to use a bolt extractor?

Enough exposed material to weld a nut to?

Able to cut a slot in the remaining exposed material for a screwdriver to try and turn it out?

Or a screw extractor. Good luck.

Ouch, yeah that stinks. This friend of yours...does he know where the bolt is located? If you have the access & it's safe to do so, hit it with a little heat to help un-seize the threads. Then get the best screw extractor you can find, drill it, and make friends with the deity of your friend's choice.

Well according to my uh, friend...it's a coil pack bolt when he was replacing spark plugs and not paying attention.

    Appreciate the input!

I won't be offended. I am asking, and my guess is just about everyone knows more than I do about this.

That said, the reason I am thinking about going with the 5.29's is that I have never had a 4x4 that felt so under geared in 4 lo. This Tacoma is working to hard. It is amazing that these things are so highly touted offroad if this is the gearing. Especially since I do "crawl" with it and play really hard off road-I would say significantly more than most-even here in Wisconsin (although most of my offroading experience is in the Cascades and Sierra mountains out west). I cannot afford to mess around and find the sweet spot-one in college and one coming soon...

I have done a bit of research and it seems that the second gen does well with 4.88's. I did a gear checker thing for tire size and what not based on factory settings. Going with 5.29's was not optimal, but was solidly in the more power range. That thing had me closer to 4.20 for optimal factory feel. Maybe 4.56 or 4.88 might be better, but I am not happy with the factory feel off road. What I would like to know is what I would be turning for rpm at 65-70 mph (on 35's) with these gears (4.56, 4.88 and 5.29) Your numbers give you a unique perspective as 35's is where I am going. You have a 4 liter six with automatic? My trans has me worried and I want to help it as much as possible. I don't care about gas mileage. I can also live with 55mph because I am spun out. Not a daily driver-sleeps in the garage most of the winter.

Talk to me. Give me specific concerns. Help me...

So, FedEx stopped by this afternoon with these neat new spanners and some stickers.

Someone threw these in too...glad they did because those spanners were pretty expensive:
