No it doesn’t or not yet, but the check oil comes on when coming down. There’s plenty of oil in it.

I’ve had the oil warning come on more than once on steep inlines. Our engines don’t have a dry sump. In your case maybe turning the engine off is the best strategy

Oh there will be some mods all right
Since you say that you are being towed on a routine basis I would recommend something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Body-Armor-2...y4ZICEvEZ5a1gClnOwv5pE0lASaLAnGMaAplZEALw_wcB
Don't even have to mount a winch if you don't want but having those two spots for a shackle up front and being mounted firmly to your frame would be a lot better than towing from anything else. The ARB recovery hook that was mentioned is not bad but I still would lean towards a front bumper like the one I linked.

    I drive a Miata.

Now I'm curious. Do you need your vehicle up top?

My grandad often drilled this quote in my head as a teen - "never use your personal vehicle or tools on a job. Either make the company provide it for you or go find a company that will." That echoes in my head any time I go do field work. I know I'm not in your shoes, but if I were I'd tell my company to provide a shuttle or go fish. Being dragged up and down slope on the daily is not the healthiest or safest thing to do - considering that if something happens, its coming out of your bank account, not theirs.

It’s not my personal vehicle, it belongs to my company. I do need it up top otherwise it would stay at the bottom.

Not if he’s more conservative over what they say is a safe way to do something- if they say a one-point anchor is good enough for code, I’d say put two more on it.

I like over kill and over built. I’m leaning towards the bumper that was posted.

just be warned that the ARB is the only option that's been tested and certified for what they say it will do. all the other bumpers with recovery points are officially just 'accessory mounting tabs'. they might hold, they might not.

same with rear bumpers-- a few offer 2" receivers, but zero indicate the load rating of the 2" receiver.

just watched dirt lifestyle's newest video, and a simple low-stress nearly straight line self winch job pulled off his own bumper due to this fact.

it should be auto-cued to 46:07, where it happens.

Did they weld on the cheapest grade hardware they could find? That’s insane. That could have turned out a lot worse for them.

truth is, many of these products are 'lifestyle' products, and are designed first to meet a specific price point before they're designed for a specific load. metal costs are fixed, there's only so much corner-cutting that can be made in the design before the metal thickness and bolt quality come into play.

same reason a $2,000 tool box has 120+ pound drawer slides, and a $200 tool box doesn't have any rating on the drawer slides.
