I’m looking at a 2023 and the MSRP of the truck on the dealers site is higher than the MSRP on Toyotas site. Is MSRP different for different states? Is 2023 MSRP the same all year long or does it fluctuate? Appreciate any info.

I've seen a 500 dollar difference in starting msrp. I believe at some point toyota tacked on another 500.

Perhaps transport expense is the difference?

Destination/delivery fees are the same everywhere in the US. Doesn’t matter if it’s Alaska or just across the border from the plant in California.

Ahh, I know with my GMC it was less due to our proximity to the plant. Interesting Toyota is “flat rate.”

To me, MSRP is the number on the top right of the Window sticker. The number at bottom right is after all the factory or port add ons. That number on top right in March 2022 was $500 less than in mid to late May 2023. As far as I know Toyota added $500 to base MSRP of a 2023 sometime in May 2023. But just about every vehicle Toyota puts out has some level of add ons like tech pkg, premium pkg, to side steps, mud guards, bed lights, etc. those items did not change in orice. And then some have shit dealer add ins on top like vehicle protection packages or market adjustments. So…. MSRP per model is just the number on the top right of the widow sticker. And yes it went up $500 in May 2023.

Thinking on it more, I was looking at different models at that time and believe it was different between models, not distance. It was years ago and my memory is a bit foggy.

If comparing two exact identical trucks, msrp should be the same. Any type of extra add-on whether minor, or major to a vehicle will change the msrp. What dealers are charging over msrp is their greedy business. As long as their enough stupid buyers that will pay their price, their going to keep doing it.

Not exactly true, as others pointed out price increases throughout MY will change price between 2 like models. Especially if price change rolled out in May, you could have a truck made in April landing on the lot the same time as one made in May. Exact truck with 2 different figures.

Idk about that one, unless toyota suddenly announce's there's a national price change. Usually thats done once for the new model year.

That’s correct. I had a deposit and signed paperwork on a TRD Sport end of March. By the time it came in and was delivered in June the base MSRP of a TRD sport was increased by corporate Toyota by $500. But I did not pay the increase as I had a signed agreement
I think people get confused by MSRP, factory and port add ons, and dealer add ons. Toyota corporate determines base MSRP price of all SR SR5 TRD Sport TRD Off Road Pro etc. they also determine the port and factory add ons that go on every individual VIN. Not the dealer. Dealer add ons go on last and that’s where you’re paying for magic made up crap like paint protection, and laughable market adjustments. In my case I had no dealer add ons but did have a lot of port add ons but most I liked and accepted. I just ended up with a roof rack I didn’t really want. Dealer said it was added at port and they requested it deleted but Toyota said no.

The only states where it’s different is southeast Toyota distributors… they modify the msrp and add their bullshit toyoguard to it etc

Ya from what I’ve seen perusing dealer listed window stickers to figure this out, you guys down there in SE get hosed frequently. That and some west coast dealers. SE window stickers look different too. I’m not positive but all those Toyota factory and port add ins should be the same price too. And I think some regions they even up the price of those add ons which is being really sneaky bastards if they do that. Most people won’t even know they charged extra for a factory add on. I’ve been happy with my dealer to date. They also actually requested I bring it back at 5,000 miles for oil change. I respect they act like they have a vested interest in the life of their product.
Peruse window stickers and start comparing identical models and you’ll start seeing where the sale price differences are and then you’ll see what dealers are the sneaky bastards slipping in random bs. Some dealers try to hide their window stickers I think.

It happens quite often with all manufacturers. You can find two of the exact same vehicles in the lot and one will be cheaper simply because it was built prior to a price increase.
