Compact BOF off-roader does exist. The Bronco and Wrangler 2D, just not a pickup. Don’t see many of those running around.

Guess you could half cab it if you really wanted to.

The Gladiator hasn’t been the high seller as Jeep has hoped, but combine the sales with the Wranglers, think retro is doing pretty darn good.

    2022 Wrangler was 181,500 Gladiator 77,000.

The new Sequoia on the other hand…that is failing hilariously. What is it, nearly 8000 for ‘23? Wranglers are at 84,600 so far.

Other designs have been, to put it charitably, completely ugly

You missed the point. If I wanted the most usable space, I would get a full sized truck like a Tundra/F150. I want the return of the compact pick up. Not a half-ass attempt like the Ford Maverick (Ford Focus platform with a bed......).

A compact truck needs to be 200" or less in length.

They should kill off the sequoia. Most looking for a full size SUV want some baller status with the price tag. Pretty obvious from the design of the Tahoe/Yukon. The Sequoia doesn’t speak to that. And what it speaks to will be supplanted by the Land Cruiser.

Blame it on the dealers, think @Carmaker1 was saying they wanted to keep it. Why they ditched the Land Cruiser nameplate is beyond me, of course they are bringing it back, which if the GX 550 is any inkling, it is going to be good. Unfortunately it won’t furfill the purist LC fans, anything short of a 70 won’t cut it.

Was sorta interested in the Sequoia, until I saw the dismal use of cargo space.

    It is hilariously awful.

Our old Trooper had a proper cargo area.

I’m not talking about the bronco specifically. While some retro designs have been a success, others have failed. It’s not easy to make them work. Some succeed, others fail.

Well, when Toyota does it they do indeed fail. :)

Since we are discussing Broncos, Wranglers, and Gladiators just assumed you were. Personally I don’t care for cars, so I don’t even look at them. Though out of all the retro muscle cars, the Challenger did it the best. I’ll take one in Plum Crazy for my midlife crisis vehicle.

The Challenger looks cool, I wouldn't mind having one of the Black Ghosts, I like the silver wheels as they look pretty plain. The new Mustangs look pretty good I wouldn't call them retro, they look more like a Honda Accord from the front the Dark Horse looks pretty good.

    Last call for petrol!

My 1st Gen Extra Cab missed it by “that much” it’s 203 inches long.

While the ‘99 is smaller than the ‘21, haul almost exactly the same amount of gear, only really real difference is that I can get stuff in and out of my ‘21 Access Cab easier, of course Toyota had to go and ruin that too. Ironically the bed dimensions are slightly larger on the ‘99, the plastic bed on the ‘21 apparently you loose cargo space despite being a bigger truck overall.

Another pisser is, payload on the 1G is 1600 lbs, the 3G 1100 lbs. Sooooo….bigger does not necessarily mean it can haul more, it is actually less.

Not a fan of Dodge, but man the Challenger looks good!

While it is going away retro ain’t dead yet!

For what reason do you want that reduced length? My 212” AC goes anywhere my older platforms went, but I get slightly more room in the cab and know it will be safer in a crash.

I just prefer having a slightly larger cab, when I get in the older trucks they feel a little cramped. Though I admit I miss the feel of the smaller trucks around town. I’m glad they increased the payload finally for the 4th gen.

Electric Challengers? I don't think Challenger buyers will want an EV, and I don't think EV buyers would want a Challenger, or any Dodge product for that matter.

I'd get a lime green Genesis GV60 if I wanted an electric car.

Since the door panels are slimmer on the 1G, it feels bigger…only thing that makes me realize the cab is bigger, the console is wider.

Do like the 3G interior design much better than the 1G, kinda harkens back to the early 80s trucks being squared off and horizontal.

That looks amazing. I feel bad for the muscle car fans out there. Chevy is killing the Camaro and replacing it with an electric sedan :(.

    It is the EV Charger.

Yeah it is not bad! iirc Mustang is the only one left standing.

Good thing I already went through my muscle car phase when I was young. Had a ‘71 and ‘72 Chevelle. Not sure what I would with now, too risky to drive fast, not really into standing around in parking lots looking at them.

That green is awsome saw one at the dealer, Toyota should borrow that color for their truck line up. I don't necessarily care for the Genesis, kind of looks like a Mach E or a Porsche and the Ioniq 5 is probably the same thing. I'd get just for the looks it would get from Tesla drivers. Not being a fan of EV car styling, I don't have strong preference for one over the other.

No idea if Kia plans to bring their midsize truck to the US or not? If they do it will probably have an electric version and become popular.
