Any wildlife sighting while riding is awesome. I’m always on the look out for anything. This is an Eastern Box Turtle, pretty common in most all of the east and southeast. They are often confused for tortoises because they spend so much time on land when actually they are part of the aquatic turtle family. Cool sightings.

it's not supposed to continue leaking oil like that over time. Maybe immediately after reassembly yes, but not a few weeks after.

I’d be ok with seeing a black bear. Where I live, they’re much more scared of me than I am of them. I have absolutely no desire to have a close encounter with a brown bear. Fortunately, we’re a long way from the nearest brown bear!

@Pugga confirmed it’s 172.5 and 42t with a 4 bolt pattern and I don’t have a bottom bracket. They are sram GXP. Not what you’re looking for but if you’re interested let me know IMG_5014.jpg

Thanks, I think I’m going to have to change out too many other things to make that work. I appreciate it, but I think I’m going to have to pass.

Same here, I’m always hoping to see a Black Bear out riding. I’ve seen plenty while not riding. Riding in Grizzly habitat is another story, No thanks!

Any recommendations for smaller waterport style shower/spray units?

Im sure there are DIY options available, but I’m opting for the lazy/turnkey/refined solution.

Primary purpose would be for a quick bike rinse post ride when needed, and leg/arm/head pseudo showers.

I had a numerous encounters with black bears on the trails. The one I remember the most is a bear cub running into me ...and the mom was not thrilled.

Garden sprayer from LOWES or HD. 1 gallon works for personal clean up, 3 gallon for cleaning bike & clean up. Pump it up and spray away. Not enough pressure to damage bearings but definitely does the job.

Solid logic. But I get like zero overbro points if I use that setup :typing:

Guess I’ll try and flush out whatever the hell it is I last had in my 1gal HDX sprayer.

X2, no flat bill point but works great! I have a 1 or 2 gallon sprayer from ACE.

If the pesticide doesn’t eat your frame up at least the bugs will stay away. ;)

I have a Fox that I found on sale online. I have a Fox regular helmet though so it was easy for me to get the correct fit online.

IDK if its "affordable", but I have a Troy Lee Stage I take with me to the DH parks in the SE, its on the lighter side of the spectrum though.

Look into seeing if you qualify for access to Expert Voice (it’s current name). There are numerous ways to qualify. If you do, you’ll get access to discount pricing with a ton of outdoor brands.

Smith, Fox and Leatt are a few that have FF bike helmet offerings that could potentially get access to.

    Black bears are cute...
    Mountain Lions, another story.:hungry:
You don't know what happened until it's too late.

I've had a few encounters with them. Every one I was perry sure was my last.

Turned a corner hiking in southern Utah and came up on one in a little cave. Licked it's lips, and growled... I slowly backed away, and my pup came up and scared it away. Yes, they are scared of dogs.

Came up on one riding once in norther Colorado. Juvenile. Saw me, sauntered away slowly. Mama was nearby, I could smell her. Just kept riding, and praying.

Camping in Idaho, I heard a God-awful sound in the middle of the night. Next morning I saw what was left of a deer carcass within 100 ft of my tent. And a seeming pile of cat shit about 15 feet from my tent. A warning, I guess. Did not go back.
