So im needing some help. I had some rodents get into my fuel harness I was able to get some help and get that soldered. But after putting things back. I then noticed I had a fuel leaking coming from somewhere. Now I found the leak but idk how to fit it back into place. I'm obviously doing this myself because I can't afod a mechanic right now. So please no bashing. Any suggestions would be great. I obviously posted this picture of where I found the leak. Not sure what that part is called.

Doesn’t that just push in and screw down like the one to the left of it?

Loosen the nut on the right hand side a bit, just enough to wiggle the pipe.

Put the one out of place on the left side into the fitting and carefully start the nut by hand for several threads.

Alternate tightening those nuts a turn at a time till they are well seated.

    Welcome to the forum :hattip:

Like Steve said above the fitting you have in the first photo should push together and screw tight.
You may have to gently persuade the tube to nest into the fitting and perhaps jiggle it (the tube) a bit as you tighten the nut part down.

Make sure the nut part is threaded on straight, it should turn down with just fingers, if it doesn't back it off and try again. If it is not straight and you force it you can cross thread it. $$

Edit: Bill's post above will help you get the tube on straight.

That looks like flare nuts, if it's possible try to loosen the other side and then see if you can wiggle it around and get the small ferrel on the pipe that's off pushed in even with the top. And then start both nuts alternating until both are tight. Then check it for leaks.

I am unsure, did you find this flare connection left disconnected?
Or, are you saying it leaks somewhere in that vicinity, and you disconnected in hopes of repair?

Thanks for the help guys. No it hasn't been running like that. I had a rodent get into the fuel harness as stated before and That's been soldered back together but the person I had helped me obviously didn't put that piece together correctly. So when I test drove I noticed the leak. So I've been trying ever since to fix this thing. Just cause I'm a woman doesn't mean I'm an idiot.

Yes it leaks from that flare nut. My girls father had put everything together up until here. So when I put everything else back and test drove the truck. I noticed it was leaking from that flare nut. I noticed it's more to left but idk if that's because i unscrewed it or it was like that. And I did think loosen the other one but i was told from someone else that I didn't need to touch that one. But it looks like I'm going to have to do that. It's extremely hard to move there is no other way for me to get that to fit in straight.

Get a new line don’t chance a leak and have your truck burn to the ground.

Why would you think I need a new line though? Instead of trying to put it in properly? . I honestly just think he didn't do it correctly. I think he just half assed this.

Sorry about your troubles with your truck, especially if you’re on a tight budget. But the other comments about possibly needing to use a new line may be correct- it’s because when a new pressure fitting is tightened, it seals itself by warping against the other part- so reusing it “could” make it be misshaped enough that it won’t reseal properly. It’s more important to use new fittings on a high pressure line, especially if it’s something like fuel…

You want to be 100% sure you don't have a leak here, as mentioned, this is high pressure gasoline and if leaking, would spray on a hot engine. A fire here would be very dangerous.

Hard lines like these, with flare style fittings, require the nut to be run down perfectly straight for the threads to engage properly. There is a very good chance he either bent it out of his way, or the way it was installed, it was forced in to place, therefore when unthreaded, it sprung back to it's original orientation. Of course being such a short assembly, makes tweaking it in to place that much more difficult.
As mentioned, loosen (DO NOT REMOVE!!) the second nut,, just loosen with a wrench and maybe back out the nut a turn or two. Then on the initial end you are attempting to reattach, place the coned inside part in the female socket on the engine, and hand tighten the nut when you feel you have the assembly in place. If you cannot hand tighten, DO NOT use a wrench, you run a high risk in improper thread engagement and ruining the thread of either/both.

I hope his wiring repair job holds and doesn't cause any further issues,,, and that there isn't more rodent damage yet to be seen.

The Toyota removal and assembly instructions say that pipe can be reused 10 times.
