Just wondering if any of you guys have noticed scraped edges and rust inside the fuel door?

I recently had some body work done and I'm convinced this is a new thing (there were a few other issues) but realize could also just be in my head.

Anyone else notice the same rust spots? Assuming I have nothing to worry about but truck is only 6 months old.

Mine also has a little rust. Make sure you live the hinge with a little wd40 or it will bend in later.

I just took this pic for you. It looks like you have some pry marks on the bracket from the body shop that have slight rust as a result. The brownish in my pic is just dirt. I probably should wipe that down.

That's what I was afraid of... they scratched another panel too. They offered to fix it but I'm not sure I want them touching it again. Wonder if I go back to GEICO or what

You can probably remedy the fuel door thing. It probably depends how bad the other scratch is. I dunno if its a Geico issue to address or between you and the body shop. I really don't know.

    Too much to list
Just put some rust encapsulator on it and call it a day. Obviously not a great solution but definitely the easiest and most “reasonable” method if you don’t want the shop touching it.

Anyone have any luck saving them after they bend/rub?

Nope. Best thing is to use white lithium grease on the hinge shaft. The you never have to worry.

Mine is so out of shape I'm thinking about buying a new one and starting over. You would think the hinges would stay fresh considering how often I'm at the gas station LOL

On my Land Cruiser the inside of my fuel door and pocket looked horrible after many snow wheeling trips. Also had some very slight rust. Wiping it down thoroughly with wd-40 inside there made it look brand new, and took away the surface rust. Might try that for the rusty bits, won't hurt the paint.

I knew the issue and addressed it from the start. I can shut my door with one finger.
